Things are really starting to ramp up at DC2K, one of the most active fanfic collective out there. Check out all these awesome new releases now! ACTION COMICS #12 - Me am hating this series. Me wish Tobias would stop writing Superman. Why no Tobias write Bizarro #1 stories? I think you can see where this is going...plus, Clark takes up a challenge from Lana Lang's family in the back-up story! Written by Tobias Christopher! BATMAN #4 - After fighting off more crazed killers dressed like another of Batman's rogues, and negotiating with Deadshot, the Dynamic Duo head through the sewers of Gotham City, cut off from Nightwing and any operational support. He knows that he's being led straight into a trap, but the Dark Knight is still pressing forward. Written by D. Golightly! THE SHADOW #3 - Lamont Cranston comes face to face with the beautiful and curious Margot Lane, but their meeting is short lived thanks to someone stealing a secret formula from one of the Shadow's agents. Written by D. Golightly! THE FLASH #1 - Something wrong with the timeline, and it's really screwing with Barry's head! As he tries to navigate his life, a new case pops up that will severely affect his future. Written by Tony Thornley! TEEN TITANS #3 - All of this foliage going out of control and not a single can of weed killer in sight. Can the Teen Titans stop the 'root' of the problem? Hmm? Written by Patrick Moore! LEGION OF DOOM #5 - Hawkman is placed into an impossible position: either fight to save his friend, or kill him to save countless others. Plus, Wonder Woman is confronted by two dangerous foes, J'onn is surrounded by his worst fear, and John Stewart is pinned down without his ring. Written by John Cheese! RED HOOD & THE OUTSIDERS #3 - With Static now added to his team, Jason Todd head to Star City in search of his next recruit. But when they come across a Queen Industries hijacking all bets are off! Written by Jake Hawkins!

And so we reach the first day of Spring, one that's full of snow, ice and hail - feels like spring to me. Fortunately, spring has sprung with this six titles (to review) release. Unfortunately, Bizarro John is here and to prevent him from throttling me I agreed to let him do the rating just this once...
Goodbye, me love John but me hate 2000 DC release titles. Me hate them so much me give them bad reviews, then me not go back to not strangling regular John because me not jealous that he not have opposable thumbs.
Action Comics #12 - Man Bizarro is a woobie, and of course Tobias Christopher writes such characters perfectly (he is being nominated for a Tookie after all). Not only does he make Bizarro seem like an adorable character, he captures the emotional backlash from Zod changing John (not me) into a mini Doomsday, even going as far as adding character to Clark Kent/Superman with a single line of dialogue. I'm not entirely sure how this is going to play out, but I am eager to see.
Rating - 2/10 (It Bad)
Batman #4 – Hmm so it was Joker behind everything, something I doubted ever since I started reading the series (personally I thought it was the Film Freak trying to make a documentary). The sheer mania that Dave Golightly brings to this Joker is inspired, because as we know for every good fan-fic Joker there are ten badly written ones. I also wonder what the OG Killer Croc would say about those duplicates, nothing good I’m sure, unlike his (and my) ongoing respect and enjoyment of this series.
Rating – 1.5/10 (It Bad)
Red Hood & the Outlaws #3 – Speaking of Killer Croc and his latest chew toys (Green Arrow and Black Canary) Jake brings us a Star City inspired issue of Red Hood & the Outlaws (hence forth referred to as RHATO). More of the insidious plan is revealed and we get to see what I assume is a pre LOD Canary and Arrow relationship. Not only that but we see the formidable line-up the RHATO team will have to deal with. Not only that but the writer is promising us something else very soon, something that will hopefully match and maybe eclipse the quality of the work shown here.
Rating – 2.5/10 (It Bad)
Teen Titans #3 – The Green Genocide ends as we expected it would, with a smack down between Eden and her fellow villains and the Teen Titans. There is plenty of witty banter, and Patrick has fixed the grammar and spacing problems that were apparent in the last two issues. While we didn’t have any Wonder Twins action this issue, it does look like they may appear in the upcoming issues. With this title going from strength to strength I’m hoping for good things from the future of this title.
Rating – 2/10 (It Bad)
The Flash #1 – Tony Thornley brings us a new Flash title, one that starts off with a stich in time as Time Travellers are targeted by a mystery assassin. This issue doesn’t follow the typical layout of an Issue #1 and that’s refreshing, since it’s made very clear what’s happening. Unfortunately, it does rob the reader a little of the questions they ask, although there are still plenty out there. Hopefully we’ll get answers soon, maybe even in a… You good at jokes, tell more.
Rating – 2.5/10 (It Bad)
The Shadow #3 – Last stop on the review train is the Shadow, and this noir piece doesn’t disappoint. Dave Golightly brings us all the classic tropes found in such tales including a femme fatale, goons and that old Batman esque intimidation factor. Not only that but we see what happens when you crossed the Kobra Club. Hopefully Moe does indeed know what to do, as I am not ready to see this title sink like a shadow into the dark of the night.
Rating – 1/10 (It Bad)

Thanks for the quick reviews! You're a machine. As for your own entry into this release, I enjoyed LoD for the sheer brutality, especially Hawkman's dilemma. I'll be sad to see this series end.

No problem, there are four more scheduled issues of LoD, but should that Justice League ever get to uppity they may come back to knock some heads.

Thanks, JohnChesse.
Originally the back-up was going to pay tribute to the events of the Florida shooting, but I gave Dave the okay to remove it. As for the WT, they will be back next issue with Gleek Trump. Also, TT will face some Titans of the Dead as "Hellbound" will answer the plots from the first arc that will lead to some big changes and shockers to come.

Thanks for the review John. I had a mini heart attack at first until I saw Bizarro was afoot

Thanks for the review. Yeah, Jon's trauma from Zod's attack is nowhere finished, and we'll see that continue to creep up on the poor kid as the series moves along.
There was supposed to be new Impulse this update as well, but the month kind of got away from me.

I can sympathise, usually I get things done on my commute but ill health, snow and V4H being a Stygian nightmare to write this month has made things hard

Quick Fire Thoughts on...
Batman #4
Our dear Mr. Golightly is clearly determined to prove that Batman will indeed be returning at the same Bat Time and on the same Bat Channel, by delivering a second issue in as many months, prolific enough to put many an Image creator to shame! I am, of course, not complaining, but I am fully expecting three for three come next month.
Imma watching you.
*eyes*
I love Batman’s constant stream of deductive reasoning, one could even say obsessive, Bruce Wayne possibly even over thinking the scenario every step of the way. His constant rationalisation makes for compelling reading, even when a trio of Crocs are trying to drown him. Would have gotten away with it to, if it wasn’t for that darn Robin!
Damien amuses me greatly this issue, although I may very well be projecting the reasons why. Batman’s own reaction to discovering that Damien had indeed accepted tutelage from another concerning field craft reveals his surprise, and Damien’s lack of acknowledgement of it speaks volumes.
“I felt like sitting,” springs to mind, which is totally true, and entirely not because someone else suggested it...

I am, of course, not complaining, but I am fully expecting three for three come next month. Challenge accepted! And thanks for the quick thoughts. I'm trying to get back into this title, and have lots of plans for what I want to happen, which include an epic crossover (of which I am very sure you are aware).

Quick Fire Thoughts on...
Action Comics #12
Maybe I’m just being all maternal (ever vigilant to attend to frequent bumps and booboos), but Jon’s current predicament makes me all far too sad, and I wants to be all mothering and the like. It’s important to remember that Superboy is, indeed, a boy, and while I am confident that he will find a way to bounce back, he’s finding it difficult to do so, and needs his family to help.
Likewise, it’s very pleasing to see Connor managing to pull himself back up some in this issue as well, building bridges with both his new, and old brothers, whilst still trying to find his own place in the world.
Action Comics remains grounded in the family dynamic, and the Title is all the stronger for it, so much so that Bizarro wants in on the action...

Don't worry, Jon will bounce back slowly in the next few arcs. But it'll take realizing just how strong he is emotionally and finding the hero within when he's faced with a difficult choice when he learns just who his new *friend* Tommy really is.
