Been batting around an idea for a team about mutants not traditionally associated with the X-Men, mainly villains or ones that could be easily manipulated. So far I've got Whirlwind, Typhoid Mary, Aurora, Shriek, and Sabra on my short list. Are there any other really obvious ones I've not thought of yet?

I was thinking about Mystique, but she's been associated with the X-Men for years. But before that she confronted the original Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers, before becoming an X-villain.
Eye Scream is a one-shot villain, until his comeback here at M2K.

Sabra seems to be the one that doesn't belong. One could make a pitch for Aurora as well, but if she goes manic, then there can be some wiggle room. Six tends to be a nice number to relay the purpose of the team, while also giving enough attention to every person on the roster. I may be wrong, but I am new.

My list:
Cyclone Flashback (Alpha Flight villain) The Mutant Force worked for Magneto, but I don't think they ever fought the X-men. Shroud ( is his power mutant or mystic, I can never remember ...?) Jade Dragon (Chinese mutant)
Hope that helps

Flashback in 616 actually reformed after he was brought back with time paradox, but here he probably is still missing Shroud is mystically enhanced by the Khali. If you read some of his older stuff in the 616, his cape was lined with asbestos when he fought Dr Doom to retard flame. It was no wonder he became mentally unstable. Jade Dragon I always assumed was mystically enhanced being as well. Most of core Alpha Flight tend to be mystically enhanced, even NorthStar and Aurora, but that can be deciphered many ways. Mutant Force is a good option

Yeah, most of fandom pretends that whole 'Northstar is an elf' thing never happened and I'm okay with that. Pretty sure Jade Dragon was just a mutant, but I don't read a ton of X-titles, so that may have changed.

Whirlwind is dead in canon, we’re on the second one ATM

If you’re looking for strength the Aardwolf could be a good fit, he’s primarily a Night Thrasher foe

In the 616 version Cloak isn't a mutant.

All I know is in the Heroic Age tie-in, Dr. Nemesis said that Cloak and Dagger aren't mutants.

In the 616 version Cloak isn't a mutant. What is he then? I believe that they (and Mister Negative) are mutates warped by the effects of narcotics

In the 616 version Cloak isn't a mutant. What is he then? Its better off the original way. When they switched to mutants it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I just wish they'd pick something and stick with it.
They're getting to be as bad as Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch.
