Reading the 1998 collected release of Crisis on Infinite Earths and the intro by Marv Wolfman really got me thinking. The DC continuity became so crazy that new readers (and probably new writers) had trouble figuring things out. Kind of like our X Branch.
What if we rebooted X continuity for M2K? Cory will likely hate that idea, but those stories wouldn’t be erased. We could just reset all things mutants. I would love to get in on the ground floor with the mutant community and bring back some wild excitement.

Reboot it how exactly? I mean, I only have three characters (Cannonball, Icarus, and Josiah) but I'd like to hear a little more.
Well, four, actually because I don't care what Slott pulls out of his arse, Franklin Richards IS a mutant and always will be under my pen. There will be no depowering on my watch.

No idea. Just the inklings of a thought. I find M2K continuity daunting. It would be fun to work with some writers to reframe things without having to redo all the world-building a la Ultimates.

Do we even have enough regular X titles to have a status quo, let alone a convoluted continuity that needs fixing?
I know, in comics, X-continuity is a dumpster fire, but here, it's the branch I've done the least with, so really have no idea what shape we are in?

Most of the titles here are team and less solo tiles, given that Gambit, Bishop, Wolverine, and Iceman could/would get continuations from their solo titles. Most of the current X-Titles have been in hiatus due to writers doing real life things.
I would like to see different takes on the X-Men world than just being the outcasts and continuing The Dream.

Maybe what we need is a baseline for jumping on? Have an X-Men mini-series (four or five issues) like Infinite Crisis involving... I dunno, the Exiles or High Evolutionary or some other reality warping characters or cosmic characters. Then we do sort of a "six months later" or "one year later" kind of thing. Write up a short and simple summary of where everyone's generally at, who is available, alive/dead, etc. and propose a collection of new titles to sort of relaunch things. Make it grounded enough at M2K but vague/open enough to just come in with new ideas, new viewpoints, etc. and not have to worry about past stories. I can probably rework New X-Men for it, while continuing to flesh out the X-Men Legacy type stuff (in other words, the former continuity). Just lemme keep my handful characters and stories, and I'm happy. XD
M2K's X-Branch is long and daunting, but I'd hate to just scrap it completely, especially since we've been at this for 20+ years now. Otherwise, what was the point of a shared continuity writing project? Still, I see the need to have a clean slate to start things and agree that it can be pretty exciting. Maybe archive the first batch of stories (call it "phase one") vs. launch the new batch (a phase two sort of thing)...
Count me in as happy if we do it right! I'll even help with plotting/scripting if need be.

Now, hear me out. I would see M2K take the X-Men through the Hickman reboot, but without the whole "lets cheat death without exposing our secrets to the world" thing. Seeing some of the X-Men join The Avengers just to help them would also work. Heck, I liked when Bendis made Wolverine an Avenger than just bouncing around various X-Teams
That's just my opinions.

I could see Sam leaving The New Warriors to raise his son back in Kentucky. One year later, he's dragged back into action for reasons. Meanwhile, Josh is trying to live his own life as a single hero in New York.

Once you guys are settled, let me know. I like to try writing an X-title.

Cory and I are bouncing ideas around, and he has a really solid plan in place to get things where we want them. More to come!

I may need to start writing New Warriors again to get to a place where I can have Sam and Josh leave the team for a while. Josiah (through time warp shenanigans) is twelve now so he'd be thirteen by the time this story would start a year later. Really looking forward to playing with Sam being a devoted father.

I would like to see the discontinued tiles get fresh life with new writers to give new blood to them.

I'd certainly be interested to hear more of this. I have some vaguely silly ideas for a Mutant Magic story/series.
