#14: I tried this one, as I had an idea for a Micronauts mini and wanted to see what they were up to in the M2K-verse.
This was a pleasant surprise, as it's actually a prequel to the marvel series, showing where a bunch of the cast were and how they got to issue one of the series. Nice little vignettes and character pieces.
Only question: was there meant to be a part two or did the 'to be continued' mean the first issue of the marvel series?
I started this thread with Marvel Fanfare as the header rather than the individual issue, figuring, I'd come back when I read more.
Feel free to add your own Fanfare reviews. No point me hogging the thread.

Sentry:
I want to like the Sentry, I really do, but nearly every story featuring him feels...wrong, the vibe is off and the writers don't seem to know what to do with him and it ends up all angsty and blah.
This story was the exception to the rule. This story had the right feel to it, silver age with just a little undertone of 'modern'.
and instead of getting all introspective and mopey to challenge Sentry, Golightly instead just found a big menace that would make the hero break a sweat.
and he picked Terminus! One of my favorite cosmic bad guys. Extra points!
Fun story, I'd like to see more or maybe I'll add Sentry to my 'gotta write about this guy someday' list.

That was the first fanfic story I ever wrote. Glad you liked it! I've been itching to get back to writing the Sentry ever since, which is why he'll have a big role in CODE.

I have a soft spot for all of marvel's superman rip offs...ahem...clones...homages...whatever.
It's just weird that they create these characters and then seem to have no idea what to do with them.
With Sentry they could do something big and epic like Alan Moore's Supreme, instead it's variations on 'I don't wanna save the world...being a god-like hero makes me sad...!"

I actually think their doing some pretty decent stuff in the new Sentry series. Is it groundbreaking? No. However, they're using Sentry and his tragic past well.

Winter Guard: Curious to see what someone would do with these guys. Would they hit the reset button? Trash the team to build their own?
Nope. Really like how you built on the stuff I did in my story, while going in different directions. You dug deeper into the emotional relationships between them and moved minor characters from my story into the spotlight.
You definitely did more research on Russian places and names then I did.
Nice character moments and a great action set piece that gave everybody something to do.
About that ending: A romance between a witch and an android...? Why does that seem familiar...?

Thank you for the review! I like continuity and I'd never want to wash away what someone else had worked hard to create so I was determined to make the story fit with your issues from 2016. I tend to write character pieces (and my action has improved but still needs work) so it became very much an explanation of who they were as people during the conflict they experienced. Building on what was canon, what had come since and what I wanted from the characters. I'm glad people enjoyed it, I loved the opportunity to build upon my previous work with the team in a new setting. I did set up a larger conflict within it, just in case I decided to place an emphasis on the team in their own series. As for Fantasma and Vostok, that was very much a deliberate connection (and reference to Scarlet Witch and Vision, since Winter Guard are the Russian Avengers). I always thought the ancient witch and futuristic technology in love was an interesting angle, and they had a connection from their time in Supreme Soviets so I saw my shot and took it. I just wouldn't expect any partially demonic babies or mental breakdowns.

I approve as Scarlet Witch and Vision are definitely my comic book OTP There's a fresh take to tell there too as Fantasma technically created Vostok as the version he now is. The big question is: what's real and what's a consequence of her witchcraft? Which could be fun to explore. I'm also currently sat thinking: since Laynia is in Excalibur, is there something interesting I could do with Sasha Roerich as the team's Darkstar? Hmm.

#97: Nobody told me Cheese was putting together a new hero team!
This ticks many of my boxes:
Country besides USA gets a hero team Mixing heroes, spies, guys in suits etc AIM (or a version of) as the bad guys. I'm a sucker for those yellow bucket helmets.
I'm not recognizing a ton of the cast: Who are from comics and who are new creations?
Looking forward to seeing more.

Okay, I have heard of about half of these guys. The rest, you did some serious deep dives to find. Impressive. Looking forward to part 2. Keep thinking I'd like to do something similar, but once you get outside the UK in comics, it can be tricky finding enough characters to make a group.

I thought the MODOK cartoon series brought back obscure villains like Poundcake and that villain that uses bowling pins as weapons.
