Okay, the Champions have added a few new members since the series started. I've had some fun writing a host of other characters coming and going from the book, and I'd like to get everyone's opinion...do you want to see a new member, and if you do, who?

No to Wonder Man because this team already has enough strength. No to Beast because it has agility. No to Mimic because...well, I just don't care for Mimic as a hero. John Jameson in perhaps his Star-God role was intriguing... I always thought Cobalt Man is a much better dangerous to himself as much as everyone else villain, but liked the idea of an armored guy on the team. That's why I went with...
Guardsman--The original (Michael O'Brien, I think). He could be on the west coast to protect a Stark facility of some sort.
For my second choice, I thought of: Hank Pym when he was stuck at Ant-Man size. With Bill Foster on the team, Hank could come to him to try to get a cure like they did together when Hank was stuck at giant-size.

MIMIC~!
Calvin Rankin is one of my favorite obscure Marvels. As a matter of fact, look for him to appear in an upcoming issue of...one of the titles I write. (BWAHAHA like you can't guess) So I have to vote for him.
If I remember correctly, in the 70s, Calvin probably just got through his encounter with the Hulk, right?
But all of these choices are great. I'm a big fan of John Jameson (I'm an even bigger fan of M2K's John Jameson; Exner used him in a great role back in his run on ASM). 70s Beast is a Marvel legend, as is leisure suit Wonder Man. If I wasn't going to vote for Calvin, then I would've voted for the leisure suit.

I'd rather the team as is, but if you're gonna add somebody make it John Jameson in his Man-Wolf persona. With the potential for Stargod tales, a trippy 70's mix of horror and cosmic fantasy. Mostly I just want to see Ghost Rider and a werewolf fighting together. At this point in his history Mimic has a lot of possibilities, as you aren't bound by what later writers did. Far too powerful and unpredictable to be a member though.

I'm with Steve on John Jameson as Man-Wolf. I've liked Beast's guest appearances in '70s Champions, but the title already has a healthy dose of X-Men and mutants. Wonder Man's a close second, though...

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I plan on continuing to have 70's-era guest-stars in the title, to show what they're up to during that time, and because I enjoy writing them. It's fun weaving their appearances into the timeline of the stories, and working with the continuity as it existed then. For the record, Wonder Man would be in the costume he wore in Avengers #164-166, since that series immediately preceded this one. Of course, the safari jacket version was a 70's icon as well. One of the things I think Marvel missed is simply saying he invented the jetpack himself. After all, he was an inventor, and a rival of Stark's. Why couldn't he come up with it himself? Beast and Wonder Man are a lot of fun to write, particularly together.
John Jameson is a great character. I'm leaning towards doing some stuff with him. I like the Star-God persona, as it is an interesting, extremely powerful persona for him. I also like his one-time identity from Spider-Man.
Cobalt Man and his brother are way too good an opportunity to pass up, particularly with the Los Angeles Rams playing nearby.
Thanks again for the responses. I like generating some discussion here. We have not only a lot of gifted writers at M2K, but a group of people who know a lot about comics, and it's cool to discuss these characters, kick around ideas, and have some good discussions.

I agree! Plus, since it's John, that's always a good excuse to bring in 70s Spider-Man!

Know I'm too late for the poll, but, as as an idea, it was rumored that before it originally got the axe, Bill Mantlo wanted to add Jack of Hearts to the team.
