Already done mate - I have this expansive, slightly mental team designed to, initially take on Reality Warpers.
Then, as we get into the nuts and bolts of it, we find that the Hellfire Club has injected a highly virulent strain of Cerebro, Mixed with Warlock and Nimrod, into The World - which as you know exists in a pocket of time, creating two distinct sub-species within it, Chimeric Mutants, created from Cerebro's own muddled programming drawing down on DNA Sequences mapped (as he did with Limited Success in Uncanny X-Men 360) & Techno-Organic Humanoids (Super-Sentinel's like Fantomex), with them trapped in a never-ending cycle of violence, until, through the machinations of the Club, the anti-reality warping team are shunted into the World and have to try and deal with these two groups essentially trying to wipe each other out in a Dystopian Generational Game, where Mutants rise and fall like May-Flies, and the Techno-Organic Super Sentinels are released occasionally to be a Government-sponsored Superteam, with Fantomex leading the way.
Annoying, I had been banding around this Ultimate X-Men idea for ages, where Quentin Quire takes all the "New X-Men" types, away from the X-Men, Magneto, etc philosophy and builds a new Genosha on the back of Mondo, who was a huge, walking Island at this point.
Seems a bit bleedin' familiar now (For God Sakes!)

That'd be fun to write!' and a vague notion that if Apocalypse wanted a team, he'd recruit a new group of horsemen, rather than join Excalibur. I suddenly feel like an amateur...

Like I said before, I would like to try a hand at a X-Men version of Suicide Squad. I had this idea for a X-Force revival with Mystique, Juggernaut, Sabertooth, Deadpool, Lady Deathstrike, and Wolverine leading them. I would even add Nate Grey/X-Man into the mix, as this would be a mix of both heroes and villains working as one. This was originally was going to be called Dark X-Men, named after the faction during the Dark Reign storyline, but Marvel shoved them off for the Dark Avengers to still take the center stage. It was a shame too to waste the Dark X-Men as fodder, than just use them up to the end.
i also want to do a teen X-Title outside of Gen X and New Mutants, maybe bring together other teen mutants like Firestar, Justice, and Ricochet as a team that deal with real teen issues and superpowered threats.

Ah, I've been annoying around with this idea on and off for about six months. It's gone through various iterations. Originally it was going to be a Weapon X Hit squad, and the characters were going to come in clumps of four - Infiltrator, Tank, Intelligence and Soldier, with the first group being a Chimeric combination of Bishop/Gentle/Greystone; Aurora/Skids/Tempus; Cypher/ArtieMaddicks/Cipher; & Maggot/Marrow/Scab. I've been playing with the idea of it since then. To be honest, I've enjoyed all the new X-titles except for Fallen Angels, and I've not really got behind New Mutants, yet.

I like your idea, Bkole. Like I planned on a Suicide Squad version with X-Villains trying to redeem themselves, unlike Freedom Force was and not using mini bombs in their brains. This is a reason I liked the Luke Cage version of the Thunderbolts, as they try to be more hero than villain, but some of them stay villains.

I also liked the Luke Cage Thunderbolts, but I feel that was more to do with Kev Walker Art, and the addition of the Vorguns Koth and Satana. Jeff Parker wrote some solid superhero stuff there - Plus, early work from Declan Shavley too.
What a great series.
I'm beginning to wonder if my series could tie into an idea I had for Exiles. Hrm!

The Cage run Thunderbolts was a fun one. Liked the issue where they fought the giant monsters.

I always like looking at little corners of a comic universe, like this, and wondering what 'my' version would be.
All kinds of comic projects spark that. Stuff I like, stuff I didn't or just a cool idea that I'm jealous I didn't think of.

Think I've got a handle on my block with writing more X-projects.
My first instinct is to do a team. Love super hero teams, but with the X-men that involves so much craziness, juggling and research that it immediately became too intimidating.
The minute I thought about doing solo X-characters, I had a half dozen scribbled ideas.
Still have one team idea that I think still works, but I think solo stories are the way to go.

I sent in a pitch to Emma for a Master of Kung-Fu mini and just waiting for the okay from her.
As for X-Men, I have been thinking of doing a teen X series with teen mutants like Firestar, Justice, Ricochet, and Squirrel Girl as a band of globe trotting teen heroes helping people all over. Even recruiting other teen mutants to join their cause as well, think Peter Pan with mutants.

Doing some research for an X-related idea and...holy moly are there some insane and amazing mutants out there!
I want to do a team just made of the c-list mutants now. Forget Wolverine and Gambit, I want to write about Longneck and Blindfold.

Forget Wolverine and Gambit, I want to write about Longneck and Blindfold. I myself would not go that far down the rabbit hole, but it is always good to explore B-list, lesser known characters. They have to start from somewhere. I remember Rogue was just some weird haired female who said "Sugar" all the time and she has developed to lead multiple teams.

If I do a X-Team book, I would bring back Squirrel Girl and Eye Scream, even Spectra for a Patheix reunion. Maybe add Gwenpool, Howard the Duck, Planet Terry, and Top Dog, and maybe Spider-Ham to become a team of misfits to battle weird and unnatural things.

Wasn't a planned thing, but once I started reading there was a lot of 'Wait! There was a mutant who could do that...?" and next thing I knew, I was hooked. I love the big name guys, but whenever I find an interesting c-lister, there's always the urge to give them some attention.
