Fallen Angels #36 by Brent Lambert.
A quick note: When I saw that Brent had reviewed Avengers #63, and that I had a chance to review a story with an inverted number, well, that's just too cool to pass up.
The Good: A trademark of Brent's stories is that he'll pack a lot (a lot!) into them, and this is no exception. Lots of big fights with a lot of powerful characters, and somehow I was able to follow it all. It's a rare talent to pull of consistently, one I certainly don't have. Not only was I able to follow the action, I was still able to notice (and dread) the big cliffhanger for next issue, that almost literal time-bomb.
Even better, Brent included a bibliography at the story's end, with little notes about some characters and events. A good thing too, because at one point I was thinking, "Wait, Mystique has siblings?"
The Bad: Really just some typos and uncapitalized names that could have been fixed with a quick read-thru and edit.
Overall: The (final?) battle for Genosha has begun, and it's as wide-screen as anything Brent's written before. Not to mention a battle for the soul of Exodus, which anybody whose followed M2K for a while should read with bated breath. And somehow the next issue promises to get even bigger.
Seriously, does Brent have notes and charts on his walls? Amazing what he can keep track of.

I should have responded to this ages ago and my sincere apologies for not getting around to it. Yea there's alot of hanging plot threads and what not I need to resolve to wrap this series up. My hope is to clean up everything as much as humanly possible and have a bunch of free x-characters out there for people to play with. Though there doesn't seem to be too much left of the X-Branch besides for me and Dan! Either way I appreciate the thoughts and I think I'm just able to keep track of all of this stuff with a combination of good memory and LOTS of lists. Organization is key to these big stories.
