I always loved the idea of all the Houses (Though I wasn't crazy about the incest in the House of Thunder lol, like... really?)

Reading the pitch is fascinating, as Alan Moore really highlights can profit from the event in various ways. Toy line, role-playing game, video game, etc. I'm reminded that Watchmen actually did have a role-playing game that was approved by him. At one point he was really willing to compromise on stories to get them told in the corporate system. But then DC screwed him over, and he continued to get screwed over again and again, until he just stopped giving a damn.
With the incest in the House of Thunder, it doesn't really come out of nowhere for me. Incest was quite prevalent in the Greek Pantheon, after all.

After reading the pitch the first time years ago I did temporarily convince myself to be okay with it by rationalizing the fact that the actual physical bodies created by the Power of Shazam out of magic probably don't have DNA anyways. lol

The weirdest thing is these "Houses" would be so much larger today.
House of El: Kal-El, Kon-El, Chris, Jon, Kara
House of Wayne: Bruce, Damian, Dick, Tim, Jason, Barbara, Stephanie, Cassandra
House of Amazon: Diana, Donna, Cassie, First Born and all the other half-siblings through Zeus.
House of Thunder: Billy, his five adopted siblings that include Freddy and Mary (not as incest-y), Teth-Adam, Amon, Adrianna (can't exactly use her super-hero name anymore)

I'll keep going!
House of Speed: Barry, Wally, Bart, Jay, Max, Iris, Jai, Jesse
House of Queen: Oliver, Dinah, Connor, Robert, Roy, Mia
House of Curry: Arthur, Orm, Tula, Mera, Garth, Jackson
House of Green: Hal, Guy, John, Kyle, Alan, Simon, Jessica

All of the characters that wear Superman's shield.
*ahem*
Supergirl would like to point out that it's the 'House of El' shield, not the Superman shield.
Otherwise, she supports this premise.
That is all.
*nods*
Wait, I thought it stood for 'hope'...? Surely, Zach Snyder would not misinform us...!!!

Liked the idea of the various heroes forming 'kingdoms' of their own and being in conflict, but didn't love the dark elements.
Cause, yeah, we all thought 'there's not enough incest in that series about the magic kid whose best friend is a talking cartoon tiger. I wish DC would fix that."

Now for the reverse of my Avengers lineup based on the classic JLA, this would be my JLA based on the classic Avengers.
Captain America=Liberty Belle:This version of Liberty Belle was kept in stasis from WW2 to present day like Cap. Made the leader after Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman vanish since she is the most experienced hero by far.
Iron Man=Maxwell Lord/Lord Havok:Still slightly amoral but not full villain like he suddenly became in the Infinite Crisis. He's bankrolling the team and in charge of technology.
Thor=Orion:Rough and tumble god/alien-like being? Check.
Hank Pym=Ryan Choi/The Atom The Wasp=Giganta:I've always loved these two as a couple and they make a nice reverse power set of Hank and Janet.
Hawkeye=Green Arrow:Still no explanation needed.
Scarlet Witch=Black Alice:Same explanation for why Wanda wasn't the match for Z, is why Z isn't the match for Wanda. Alice has the more spooky vibe, the angst, and the mystery around the nature of her powers.
Vision=Red Tornado:Let's face it. These two basically have the exact same origin and first issue plot. Air powers can be as versatile as Vision's powers. AND if you just draw both with lines and no colors they basically have the same look.
Black Widow=Nemesis:Super spy extraordinaire, similar fashion sense, same looming question of where their loyalties lie.
Black Panther=Vixen:Fictional African kingdom? Check. Ancient totemic power? Check. Power passed down through the generations? Check.
Captain Marvel=Power Girl:Similar to why I used Carol to stand in for Supes, but PG also works because she's dealt with retcons as much as Carol has, mixed up origins and sadly messed up "mystical" pregnancies that were sloppily handled by writers.

Would have gone with Black Orchid instead of Nemesis, but otherwise a pretty solid line up.
Though, why do none of the other New Gods ever get invited to join a super hero team? Seems like they could give Orion a break and one of the others could step up.

Well I almost went with Barda but frankly she seems more Hercules than Thor.
