After marvel's disappointing relaunch of PM/IF, I was in the mood to read stories about the boys, but the comic had let me down.
So, I tried the first couple issues of M2K's series.
#1 was a nice intro issue ( as I hadn't noticed that there was a previous H4H series and this was my first exposure to David's take on the boys. Plus, having just done a version of 'Big stuff happened off stage' for my Ghost Rider run, I was up to just going with it.
I enjoyed the fight between Luke and the Eel, though David neglected to give us a description of the Eel's suit. I was distracted wondering if it was the classic suit or a redesign. While I suspect the fight was done just as an intro one off, I would like to see a return bout.
Interesting to have the series start with the boys split up and the story being about bringing them back together.
Not a fan of the devious government agent using threats to recruit a good guy trope. Would have preferred something different pushing them together instead.
#2: David can write fight scenes. All the fights in this issue were solid and hold your attention.
Nitpick: Man-thing roars...? I prefer him mute, so that distracted me.
Though, on the plus side, I now want a new H4H team that includes Man-Thing.
Can't decide how I feel about Danny having a magic sword. A cool visual, but it's hard to beat his mad, magic kung-fu skills. Unsure if I want him to be 'cured' or learn to master the sword.
All in all, a nice take on Luke and Danny and looking forward to reading more.

#3: Bit of a rushed resolution, but I'm glad to have the boys back together.
Another good fight scene. Though, I wish the sword had stuck around. Would have been interested in seeing how David used it.
Not loving Travers. Sorry, but I'm in no hurry to see what he's up to.
Am looking forward to seeing Batroc tangle with Luke and Danny.

Thanks for the reviews! I really appreciate someone checking out the series. Honestly, I didn't realize there was more than one Eel suit. I just wanted a throwaway villain, but I'm happy to do a rematch and correct my attitude toward the character.
Man-Thing really shouldn't roar, should he? Although he's not actually a mute I believe...
So, the magic sword. Here's the deal. I tossed that in at the end of my H4H run as a simple way to clean something up. Then I was instantly like, "I hate this sword. Danny shouldn't have this sword." But it was bonded to him, right? Hence his initial story arc in PM & IF.

Interesting that the Eel scene was just done as a throwaway bit, as it really had the feel of a set up to something else. Nicely done.
I understand about the sword. Sometimes in writing you tip the first domino and then find yourself going 'what have I done? How'd I get here?"
