Better late then never is the turn of phrase that I would use to describe the MK2 October release. And because we've waited enough I won't go on and on, and instead get straight to the reviews. Will these weeks dirty half dozen by fashionably late or just late, rude and obtuse. Let's find out...
Deadpool #3 - I had to put my anti-Deadpool prejudices beside for this review, and I'm glad I did. The story aspects were very nicely set out, and while the setting jumped a little crazily around for my liking, was really well constructed. I have a minor gripe about dialogue, and how certain pieces were missing capital letters at their start points, but as long as Liam Goncet corrects this for future issues I can't see it becoming something that would put me off following this title once further instalments come out.
Rating - 8/10 (Fashionably Late)
Iron Man #3 - I read this title with baited breath, and that was before I knew 'my boy' Man-Bull was in this, getting an pre-Villains for Hire exercise break. In all seriousness Tony Thornley writes an Iron Man with the right levels of condescension, humility, snark and everything else that we have come to expect from the Armoured Avenger and his recent ascension into the spotlight. Not only that, but he writes the supporting characters well too. A great read indeed, and something I look forward to seeing more of soon.
Rating - 9.5/10 (Fashionably Late)
New Warriors #23 - Tobias Christopher writes camaraderie well, and it's as evident here as it is in Impulse. While this issue wasn't heavy on action, and narrowed the focus of the story onto one or two characters, its these kind of issues that act as the framework for impressive fight scenes etc, and in this field Tobias really excels, but then any long time reader knows this already. Also don't worry Andy I can't multitask either but I can honestly say that like Batgirl, Iron Man or Impulse this series has got me hooked within two issues. Kudos on that.
Rating - 9/10 (Fashionably late)
Xavier's Academy #3 - This title has always feels a little long per issue and a little bitty, with short paragraphs that probably contribute to the former problem (albeit a problem for me along at current). The characterisation of the X-Men and their allies flowed organically, as did the malice that their enemies (Wolverine included for this instance) gave off. The story-line is well constructed once said earlier mentioned problems are looked past, and is in general good, should A.Crute slow down, and maybe look into unifying some of the paragraphs it might be great.
Rating - 7.5/10 (Fashionably late)
X Unlimited #57 - I don't know what Brad Horton would say if I told him I almost forgot to include this issue in my review. As someone doomed to be in the background of my own life, I can relate to Neutrina, and her lack of recognition, in fact I think we all can. While not the longest introduction, the character was fleshed out really well, especially in OC characters (yes I checked). Hopefully the character will not be forgotten and we will see her hit the lime-light really soon.
Rating - 8.5/10 (Fashionably Late)
Young Avengers #1 - I honestly feel conflicted reviewing first issues of a series, but review I must. The set up of this arc, possibly even the entirety of Dan Dolan's run as writer can be set out in one word; Legacy. Their were surprises galore in this first chapter, particularly my Moridun related theory on what happened to Wiccan, and that ending. Hopefully the surprises will keep coming and we'll see this team evolve into a group worthy to call themselves Avengers.
Rating - 9/10 (Fashionably Late)

Thanks for the review. This issue and the next will both a little light on action, then the action will be in full force in #25 as we get the start of a new adventure, plus the reveal of who the won the 'Who Will Join the Team?' poll from a few months earlier.

Thanks for the review, I must have missed the capitalization in my editing, a shame. I'm glad you enjoyed the issue despite your dislike of the lead character, that makes me feel like I did a pretty bang up job on the story side. I did have to get through a lot of story this issue and it might have been better to space things out more which I'll keep in mind when we head into the next big arc a few issues from now.

Better late than never or so they say, here's some reviews!
Young Avengers #1
First issues for team books are always tricky because you have to strike a balance between setting up the status quo for the group and introducing the team members but Dan Dolan handles this very well. By the end of the issue I feel like I have a handle on all the basics of the characters and we even get a surprise death to set up future issues. The death was the biggest shock in the issue and I'm very interested to see how these young heroes handle it.
Project Argent #2
The ladies of Argent get off to a fun start in their first mission as Cheese shows us just what makes each of these women special. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Stone and Zawadi and I'm hoping we get to see more pairings with the other team members in future issues. We also end with a great tease for even more problems to come next issue.
X Unlimited #57
What a fun concept for a character! Neutrina has the unfortunate ability of being easily forgotten which has left her adrift in X-Men history. She was there for many of the big moments but nobody remembers. I'll admit upfront that I am not a big fan of the "this person/thing was actually around for a long time" trope but Horton manages to make me enjoy this issue by keeping the focus on Neutrina and her growing power set.
Xavier Academy #3
These issues have alway been among the longest in M2K, which I personally don't mind but this issue felt simultaneously long and rushed. We get a huge reveal about Xavier's past in this issue and it feels like there maybe should have been another issue dedicated to this huge revelation. Especially when there's a large segment of the issue devoted to a training exercise with Jean that doesn't really add up to much. That said, as it feels I'm being perhaps too critical, I enjoyed this take on Wolverine and having him be behind Xavier's paralysis is a bold choice that hopefully pays dividends down the road.

I am so behind on my reviews.
Using up some vacation time this week, I am now torn between using it to catch up on writing fanfic or reading fanfic. Have to try a little of both.
Oh, first world problems...
