dc2k.weebly.com/BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE! Lots of explosive issues this month, so before you get too into the eggnog, start reading and start reviewing! ACTION COMICS #11 - After the catastrophe with Zod, the Kent family has some recuperating to do. But even though Conner is now powerless, he just can't seem to stay out of trouble. Written by Tobias Christopher! ALL-STAR COMICS #3 - Featuring Guy Gardner! People know him as a Green Lantern, a jock, an alien hyrbrid, and a member of the Justice League. Mostly, though, people know him as a jerk. But maybe there's more to that then meets the eye. Written by Kevin Hardwick! ALL-STAR COMICS #4 - Weird Western Tales - Featuring Matt Savage & Scalphunter! The Savage family has a sordid past. Matt and Brian have strayed pretty far from the path of one of their ancestors, though, and it's time for a reckoning. Written by Travis Hiltz! LEGION OF DOOM #2 - The Watchtower Expansion program is underway, with the League preparing to establish satellite branches throughout the world. But their foes are gathering and may just catch them off guard! Written by John Cheese!

Dynamite? Eggnog? Pah never touch the stuff, mostly due to an intolerance to egg, so instead of taking a sip I'll sulk in the corner and write up a winter review for the three titles covered in the December Release. Will this all star release hatch into a graceful swan or will it be pecked to death on hatching by its brood mates (man that's violent). There's only one way to find out...
Action Comics #11 - And so we start a new arc in Action Comics with the consequences of Zod's attack. To see the physical damage left behind on a character, particularly ones as durable as Kryptonians generally are is a rarity. As such it was a joy to see Tobias Christopher write such a scene, but as I'm coming to learn writing scenes designed to tug on your heart strings is something he does well. We also have new character appearing such as Tommy and Alice, the later of whom has me intrigued and led me to make a Mad Hatter related theory on how she arrived in Metropolis (likely to be wrong but ah well). As always this title is a joy to read even for a non-Superman fan such as myself, hopefully we'll see more surprises from Tobias Christopher being drawn out from under his hat...
Rating - 8/10 (Graceful Swan)
All Star Comics #3 - To put it plainly Guy Gardner is a jerk but anyone can write a character like that. What Kevin Hardwick did in All Star Comics #3 was make me like Gardner, in fact there wasn't a single point in the issue where I hated him. To write a character so typecast into such a role and make him likeable is commendable. What's more the title covered a lot of background information that helps out other writers planning to write a Justice League series or a hero from that team, something that is important since DC2000 is very much still at the initial world building phase. Hopefully we'll see Guy soon not to mention other titles by this writer, both would be well received and likely very enjoyable.
Rating - 9/10 (Graceful Swan)
All Star Comics #4 - My favourite DC character is Scandal Savage, so to see another 'honourable' Savage come out of Vandal's bloodline was something that pleased me indeed. Travis Hiltz makes an apology about the 'spaghetti western' feel of the story, but honestly I liked it, and feel intrigued about the project he says he doesn't plan to tell. Vandal and Imortalus were both written well, and while this story is about Matt and Scalphunter, it feels like its building up Vandal, fleshing him out into a character ready for use elsewhere. While great as a stand alone tail, hopefully Travis will keep writing this story, because as soon as I got to the end of All Star Comics #4, I felt like I wanted to know more about the Savage bloodline, and if a writer can do that, then it's a sure sign he or she has woven a great story.
Rating - 9/10 (Graceful Swan)

Everyone should be reading the Legion of Doom series. It's setting up some pretty important things as far as the League is concerned. It's a fun story, too!

Let's just say that the storyline with Alice is going to take a few wild turns as it unfolds, depending on whether or not I actually have the cojones to actually go through with the big reveal in a few issues.

Thanks for the nice words about my western. It started as just a one off with a cute idea and by the end I really liked all my cast and do have some scribbled notes for more stories about the Savage family.

Thanks for reading! I don't really do DC very much, but when I do, I think Green Lantern. I actually started this story using Hal, but I just kind of thought he was a little too boring. I never see anything with Guy, so I thought it would be fun to try and write him as the jerk that we all love he as. He punched Batman! So did Ollie, but that's the other green guy.

Wow, Legion of Doom is really good. Is this going to be a long term series? I'm really interested in this Titan person is. Also, I don't know much about Martian Manhunter, so I'm not up to date on his weakness to fire. How did that come about? Was that some kind of physic fear or something, or is it his actual kyprotnite? Anyways, keep LoD coming!

As for the Martian Manhunter, I'm writing it as somewhere in between the two; Enhanced and Mystical Fire can hurt him due to a psychic suggestion that's implanted in the genetic memory of the Green Martian race. As for the Titan, well I can't quite reveal who that is until the Epilogue, when we find out if the Legion succeeds or fails in its mission...
