Some say Namor is the first mutant and has been a member of the 616 X-Men after Dark Reign, and will be back in X-Men Red. Question is should Namor become a member of the Mighty Mutants? Thoughts?

Wasn't he on the team, back when they were based on that island? The cast was about 64 members then, so I might be wrong.
But, in general, yes, I think he'd be an interesting addition to the team.

Namor was part of Norman Osborn's Cabal with Emma Frost, but defected to The X-Men after that. This is the reason that the Dark X-Men was wasted and could have helped during Siege, but got screwed as a joke. I liked to see them get even with Osborn after wasting them for nothing. I like to see a M2K version of Dark X-Men with villains trying to be heroes or a black ops group like Suicide Squad, even be part of a new Thunderbolts.
As for Namor, M2K should give him more roles, since he is a Avenger, and him joining the X-Men would boost his title.

Man I'd love to write a New Thunderbolts title, the problem is the main characters essential for the title where either sliding back to villany (Abe Jenkins, Scream and Atlas) or in an uncertain position (Moonstone potentially under the control of Mr White) and have all been in limbo since the title finished. As such it might be better if Namor was on a Dark X-Men/Avenger esque team instead

I'm going to say no. Namor has always been very interesting to me as a character that just does not get along well with others. His brief time with the Avengers ended because of a crisis with Atlantis, and that is where his loyalties will always lie. He may do the occasionally team-up, but only when it serves his own goals. He's as likely to work with Magneto or Doctor Doom than with Captain America or Wolverine, but he wouldn't join with an organization because their fight isn't his fight.

Namor on Utopia worked because of the alliance with Atlantis. Once that dissolved, it didn't make sense for him to be a part of the team. If there's circumstances like that involved, could be interesting. If not, it'll be forced and ultimately not work.
I'll be interested to see why he's part of the X-Men Red roster.

Namor doesn't have to be a permanent member, since he is a mutant. he could be useful if he doesn't go all Captain Planet all the time. he can be a temp member to the X-Men when likes of Rogue or Colossus aren't available. It took years for Spider-Man to be an Avenger and it happened, but the whole Ock quit the team and peter coming back was rushed.

Namor seems a bit lofty for the X-Men. The X-Men are these outcast, grunge-y, non-superhero superheroes but every once in awhile they get these members that seem slightly out of place by their very grandeur. I could see Namor on a mutant team of Avengers, an Avengers level X team: Namor, Storm, Jean Grey, Toro, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and maybe Colossus.
