Is January done yet? All these titles, they seem to never end! That said I think we're on the last round of reviews for the year and I'm out of witty things to say. Let's get on with the reviews.
Deadpool #5 - Speak of the devil, everyone's favourite character continues his hunt for Sauron. While there is a degree of action in this issue, the main draw is the ethical implications that Deadpool is beginning to struggle with relating to the work he undertakes, something mirrored in Karl Lykos as he struggles to free dinosaurs and keep people from harm (something his alter-ego Sauron isn't burdened by). There still seems to be problems with capitalization, especially when it comes to dialogue, something I'm putting down to Deadpool messing round with Liam Goncet's keyboard, and will be hopefully sorted come the release of Issue 6.
Rating - 8/10 (Witty?)
Fantastic Four New Year's Special - The return of Marvel's First Family huzzah. Well not huzzah, I suspect they weren't really lost, but Tobias Christopher brought them together for New Years. I actually didn't look at the writer for this piece, and within a few paragraphs has a good idea who was behind it, since it carried that Tobias brand human connection he writes so well (plus the connection to New Warriors). Hopefully this is the beginning of a new chapter for the Fantastic Four, and if anyone can helm a project like this, I suspect it'll be Christopher.
Rating - 9/10 (Witty?)
Power Man and Iron Fist #10 - There seems to be a problem in the C.O.D.E, the real Power Man and Iron Fist would never be so evil. With another inkling of the terror Dave Golightly is planning to unleash on us in his other series brought to you be the letters C, O, D and E, we get to see more mechanisations from the doppelgangers, as well as answer the question who or what can withstand the Iron Fist. Hopefully it won't be long until the Avengers in training see through their façade but I suspect it will damage relationships in the future. Let's hope that 'E' in C.O.D.E changes into entertain, because I'm waiting with baited breath to see where this title goes.
Rating - 9/10 (Ennui?)
Hmm seems as if my evil C.O.D.E doppelganger is messing with the rating there, I swear I typed witty for them all ;-)

Thanks for the review! I wrote this before I wrote CODE #1, so hopefully I didn't misstep in any of the plotting. Dragon Fist has plans aside from what the Great American wants (in fact, he's not even in the M2Kverse by the end of the story), and the Warden is sort of following the plan. He's being a total dick about it, but he is kind of following the Great American's orders.

Jason sent me the outline for the new F4 last night, so I'm going to begin work on that here within the next week after I finish the latest New Warriors. It's going to be a big issue!

Last round of January reviews!
Fantastic Four New Year's Special
New Year's is a holiday rarely celebrated in the same way as Christmas but Christopher manages to weave a fun tale with just as much heart as you'd expect from a typical holiday special. The emotional core of this story is Franklin struggling with his sexuality and coming out to his parents. It's emotional and heartfelt as well as continuing to show why the Four are a family first. Also, is there a greater New Year's gift than Tommy Wiseau as Doctor Doom?
Power Man and Iron Fist #10
The Great American isn't the only doppelganger trying to cause some havoc. Both Luke and Danny are beset by their evil counterparts and it looks like they both have different plans for our world. Looks like it might just be up to the young heroes under their tutelage to save the day. Golighty has a masterful grip on these characters and it makes every scene pop. I especially enjoyed the fight scene between Iron Fist and Dragon Fist, the payoff of which was set-up in the previous scene. Fun storytelling and great characterization, what more could you ask for?!
Villains for Hire #16
Speaking of fun storytelling, with Crossfire firmly out of the way the Villains find their own work by heading out to Arizona and dealing with a facility full of dead criminals. Cheese adds Nero to the fun and he ends up being the best part of the issue with his diatribe to the guard checking his bag. This issue is mostly set-up for the arc but it's kept fun due to the dynamics between the Villains and their reaction to the inner workings of this crooked facility. Things are only going to get crazier next issue with the zombies loose!

Hey, thanks for reading! I was really concerned about how Dragon Fist was going to defeat Iron Fist in that scene, and then I went back and was like, "Oh, right! Duh. Thanks, Vic!"
