Stingray vs. Archangel! Dr. Walter Newell, the gifted scientist also known as Stingray, wears an exoskeleton that grants him super human strength, durability, and speed! His battle suit is also equipped with a set of wings that allow him to glide through the air for limited distances and a powerful electrical discharge weapon. An expert in oceanography, the sea is his domain! Warren Worthington III, a founding member of the X-Men and longtime hero, takes flight on a powerful pair of feathered wings as Archangel! He possesses hollow bones, keen aerial senses, peak physical strength and endurance, and natural adaptions to flight at high altitudes. He's also been filthy rich most of his life and is a pretty savy businessman, to boot! Who will come out on top in this battle between the oceanographic adventurer and the high-flying mutant hero? You decide! Voting begins... now!

If this was metal-winged Archangel, I'd give it to him easily. But while this winged mutant could certainly fly circles around Stingray, there are so many factors (and my own bias) to give it to the Avenger.

Despite my heavy X-Bias I'm inclined to agree with you, Steve... except I am reminded of a classic Tales of Suspense story where Iron Man and Angel went toe-to-toe and Warren somehow came out on top...

Warren has the edge in experience. I really think he would have no qualms about doing whatever it takes to win a brawl. He'd totally suckerpunch a guy if it means winning.

Warren has the edge in experience and training. Also, too many people underestimate how damn strong wings the size of Warren's would be. A goose can easy snap a man's arm. How much bigger is Warren than a goose? Walt does have his power suit, but outside of the water, his edge would be taken away.
I'd give it to Warren, but it would be a lot closer and probably a lot more physical and brutal than any bought not including Wolverine.

Last day for this poll! Stingray's in the lead, but three votes can swing it the other way.

----------------------------------------- Archangel flew high above the beaches of Hammer Bay on his powerful feather wings, scouting the chaos and devastation that wracked the island. His powerful avian-like eyesight allowed him to see clearly through the dense smoke and cackling electromagnetic storms even at such remarkable heights. Finally, he saw his target laying in the sand, sprawled out and immobilized. “I've found Lorna,” he projected his thoughts out across the X-Men's telepathic network. “She's unconscious, but doesn't look seriously injured.”“Great job, Warren!” Phoenix replied. “We're going to need her awake and in one piece if our plan is going to work.”“Right. Give me a moment to check on her and I'll get back to you.” Archangel flexed his wings and dove downward, heading toward his longtime friend and teammate. Suddenly, his heightened senses picked up the sound of an explosive splash and the shifting of the air around him. Instinctively, he spun around in midair and drew two custom handguns from his shoulder holsters. A red and white blur soared toward him at a high speed, but he didn't hesitate to unload his pistols on his surprise attacker. The Avenger known as Stingray did a barrel roll, deflecting and shrugging off the explosive rounds, and continuing straight into Archangel. He spear tackled the mutant in midair and sent him careening towards the beach. Archangel pistol whipped Stingray in the helmet repeatedly with both handguns, but only succeeded in briefly stunning his opponent. He dropped his handguns and took hold of Stingray, flexing and arching his wings to slow the moment of their fall, and then twisted out of Stingray's hold. Stingray took a nose dive straight for the beach as Archangel held himself aloft over his falling form. Using the trajectory to his advantage, Stingray tightened his body up into a straight line, falling at an even faster rate in the process before opening up his glider wings and catching an updraft that flung him back into the air. He twisted around in midair and unleashed an explosion of electricity in all directions. Archangel recoiled and attempted to flee the attack, but even his own impressive speed was no match for the sudden discharge of electricity. His body absorbed the brunt of the attack and he gasped in shock before dropping toward the beach, too stunned to keep himself from free falling. Stingray adjusted the path of his glide, catching Archangel just before he hit the beach and crash landing over the sand. Stingray shook his head and sat up from the sand, looking over to Archangel's unconscious body sprawled out in the sand not too far from Polaris's. He activated the radio in his helmet and reached out to his teammates. “This is Stingray. Archangel's down... along with Polaris... on the beach of Hammer Bay,” he said. “Heading to Sector 5 to check on that tech situation.” -----------------------------------------
