Deadpool #1 by Liam Goncet
There's a lot to like here. First off, kudos to Liam for acknowledging Deadpool's previous team-up with Cable (Cable/Deadpool by Brad Horton) and building off of that title's ending. Fresh out of the joint, Wade Wilson tries to crash at his old pal Weasel's pad and meets his new roommate, Peepers. Deadpool claims to be reformed... or at least as reformed as Deapdool can get... and he's out to make a name for himself as a hero. Weasel's not so sure and Peepers just seems to be along for the ride, regardless. We also get to the beginning of the first story line quickly. In the process of finding some crime to fight, Deadpool runs across a couple of legitimate heroes looking to do some good, and decides to offer his (err, Weasel's) services before receiving a mysterious tip via cell phone.
It's all very briskly and entertainingly done. From a personal standpoint, I kind of miss Deadpool's inner monologue (which can be effectively used as first person narrative), but that's more of a preference than anything. Only a few technical missteps (mostly with punctuation) in the prose and narrative, but nothing too distracting at all. I did like a lot of the little pop culture references littered throughout the series. Hope there's more of those to come. All-in-all, a worthy start to the series! Can't wait to see down and catch up on the rest of Liam's issues.

Thanks for the kind words, Cory! I wanted to acknowledge that Deadpool had been through things in M2K continuity and I'll be going back to that well in the series. There will always be some pop culture references throughout it's sort of my "make good" for not doing the inner monologue. I've thought about ways to bring it back from time to time so maybe we will end up seeing some inner monologue from Deadpool.
