So I'm on the train home and noticed there's a long list of things (bags mostly) that get a seat before me (being relegated to the only person standing on the train. As such I'm grumpily writing reviews on the way to funeral two of two this week.
Black Panther Annual 2018 - Looks like the war against Wakanda is very much ramping up, with another valuable Wakandan asset being taken off the table. That said it also looks like the White Wolf's plans are also unravelling, at least a little bit. While I'm sure it's been said before Jake Hawkins knowledge of Wakanda is quite extensive, not to mention well written here.
Marvel Fanfare #93 - And so we have a young Panther series as well, expertly written by Jake Hawkins. The apperance of a classic Black Panther villain Salamnader K'ruel, was most appreciated as I have a soft spot for the obscure parts of T'Challa's rouges gallery. Hopefully it won't be a long wait to see the K'ruel fate planned as this story moves forward.
X-Men: Mutant Underground #2 - Picking up a title from Issue 2 is hard, thankfully Gavin McMahon's title was easy to read and understand. While the cast isn't overly obscure, I had to actually name check a few characters for the first time since starting here. Hopefully Part 1 will be just as high quality as Issue 2 (and hopefully the rest...)
Young Avengers #10 - So I never realised that there were twelve titular characters in this series, one for each traditional Zodiac sign. It's these little moments of Machivallian genius that makes Dan Dolan's writing so entertaining to read. And as we get closer to his Serpent Society release, I can't help but be excited to see what comes next for the Young Avengers.

There'll be some obscure characters but I wanted to introduce the cast quite gradually so we'll be spending a little time with this cast before incorporating some of the others. I'm glad you're enjoying it and I hope your day improves!

John the use of K'ruel was specifically due to the note you gave me months ago!

Here's a fresh batch of reviews for you fine folks.
Marvel Fanfare #93 - Jake Hawkins provides us with a look at a younger version of T'Challa, one who has yet to take over the duties of king. The issue, much like Hawkins' Black Panther title, does a fantastic job getting across how advanced the nation of Wakanda is and how intelligent it's future king is, as well. This issue mostly involves set-up for the next installment, but the scene with the first encounter of T'Challa and Ororo, the mutant known as Storm, is more than enough to make up for it.
Max 2000 #46 - John Cheese gives us a very interesting glance into the life of The Guillotine. I really love the macabre relationship between Jeannie and the Fleur de Mal that comprises the majority of the story beats in this issue. The balance between Jeannie wanting to take down criminals and the weapon's lust for life is enthralling. I felt a little less enthralled with Jeannie's friend, Marc Joubert, but their discussion of the Guillotine's handling of crime was fun even if their confrontation at the end was a little abrupt for my taste. Hopefully, we see more solo Guillotine stories sometime soon, maybe something fun for Halloween?
Young Avengers #10 - Dan Dolan's series has been leading up to something big and the first part of that big reveal is here in this issue. The big "this is the team's true purpose" type of reveal can be hit or miss for me but Dolan does a fantastic job doling out the particulars of this and making it feel truly interesting. The reveal is only part of the issue though as we get some fun action and a big spoonful of teenage relationship drama. Just what you'd expect and want from a series with "Young" in the title. There's only two issues left in this season, as Dan puts it, and I can't wait to see how this unfolds.

You may be pleased to hear that I've drafted a rouges gallery for Guillotine for use in solo stories. While Guillotine may not appear for Halloween a new foe of hers Visage will be.
