It took me a minute to notice the option scrolls for the four Halloween titles.

Wow. Just got a chance to read Tobias Halloween special and I have to say it was a blast. Everything from the sudden shift to past Smallville and especially the characterization of robin and Jon, this was great. There were several one liners(Robin had me dying) that I enjoyed.

Sorry I haven't already, life's been crazy, but I'm definitely gonna try and get some reviews up for these Halloween specials!

Finally some Halloween reveiws!!! I'll start with my two partners in the Marvel section: I had a leg up on Gavin McMahon's Scarlet Witch tale as he sent it to me a tad early as we discussed him borrowing the character and I loved it no less a second time. I love when writer's allow Wanda to be a person on her own, not just a waif/damsel in distress and not some nutty madwoman who needs to be controlled. She's the most powerful female magic user in Marvel I'd say and may even go fair to say she's tied overall with Strange period, she also the longest consecutively serving female Avenger. Gavin does a great job of showcasing this and her know-how altogether. I also love that he doesn't do this at the cost of her personality or eccentricities just because she's at his level doesn't mean she'd handle things the way Strange would, she does it /her/ way. A great moody story for the Samhain season 3:) With travis's story I almost felt like I was reading about original characters since frankly I'd never heard of Digger before, shame on me I know , I loved the subtle humor in it and the genuine nature of the children featured who didn't feel like artificial "tv" children. I don't know if you'd know it but the vibe was quite similar to 'The Halloween Tree' an old favorite of mine and also reminded me not a small amount of something out of Gaiman's Sandman series with the House of Mystery or Secrets. Digger seemed like one of those old fashioned horror host characters and it was a lot of fun. The endtag implies this story will continue and I truly hope it does!

Thanks for the nice review. This story was wicked self-indulgent and I was prepared to be the only reader that liked it.
All the vibes you detected were intentional, as I wanted to create a version of the current 'Dreaming' series for marvel and so was blatantly "borrowing' from it. Digger started out life as a horror host for a short-lived horror mag in the 70's, who was revamped as a d-list zombie super villain. During my research, I was surprised that marvel never went in for those characters, like DC did, so finding characters for my dreaming was a deep dive. But, except for the kids, everyone that shows up is an actual marvel character.
and I have plans for a bigger story, either in the anthology or as a mini-series.

A great moody story for the Samhain season 3:) Thank you, Dan! It's incredibly heartening to know that you enjoyed it enough to read more than once (means I didn't completely screw up Wanda for you!) I love writing strong, female characters and - at least in my opinion - that too often comes at the cost of their femininity or vulnerability (i.e. Black Widow and Captain Marvel). It doesn't have to be that way. Given her witchy nature, Wanda was and is the perfect character to showcase this with. She's unique in that respect. At Marvel, every writer has used her vulnerability to mean "she's unstable" (which harkens back to the Victorian mindset of hysteria and sets the feminist movement back decades but, I digress). I wanted her to be strong, to be vulnerable, to be unsure of her place and herself, but still to be able to get the job done. Chadoe, as a character, could have been any nameless demon because this piece was very much an exploration of the Scarlet Witch. I'm incredibly pleased that you enjoyed it!
