This has been a fun little experiment. I keep thinking about DC Tangent imprint, where you get just the name of a character and then create something new. If we ever run out of ideas here, that could be the next thread. I once participated in a Marvel version of Tanget, so much fun. Tangent comics itself was so much fun period, I loved the retro feel and just their whole aesthetic.

I liked the Tangent-verse.
Would love to bring back their Secret Six...oh, great, there goes my 'to be written someday' list getting bigger again. I need to get one of those absurdly long scrolls. I can't see my desk for all the post it notes.

I do have ideas for both teams, but separate from each other. Have notes for a FF/JLA amalgam, but can't decide which versions I want to combine. Were it me, I'm not self centered AT ALL btw lol, I'd use both the original F4 and some of their replacements that way you could expand the number of leaguers involved. Hell borrow the name from one of my favorite web comics and double the number so you can call it JL8 đ

It's not a case of just narrowing it to 4. I like doing a quartet, it's picking a JLA era that's the tough bit.
The obvious choice is just go classic, but the twisted part of my brain wants to go with JLDetroit.

I guess that's where we differ, lol, I've always preferred larger casts. Hell I've always wanted to try a LoSH book and they're pretty much known for having the largest roster in all of superteam-dom heh You could always mix the classic four with the classic league and mix Detroit with the All New F4 (Spidey, Grey Hulk, Wolvie and Ghost Rider) or hell vice versa

Here's one I actually wrote up YEARS ago (hence the dissertation length bios, lol) but I've always been fond of it.
The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants with Villainy Inc. as:
The Sisterhood of Villainy!
Magnetress (Magneto+Eviless) â Magnetress, an anglicized bastardization of her true name, was a powerful humanoid alien entity. Born on a Terran-esque world where the female population was subjected by the males. She however was an aberration, many male children on her world were born with a mastery over the electromagnetic spectrum but never the girls. Not only was she born with the gift but hers was greater than any of the men, greater than any known instance of the gift in her worldâs history. She attempted to hide this lest she be destroyed but it was discovered regardless and she was put to trial, she used her gift to save herself from death but they did manage to banish her using an experimental space-warp device. She suddenly found herself on Earth, in America, in the 1940âs. She was confused, betrayed and angry and she became even angrier upon seeing how women of the time were treated. She patterned herself after the only other woman she had found with great gifts on this world Princess X(Professor X+Wonder Woman) and took on a costume made of mostly red armor. She soon allied herself with the Princess and became friends but soon their goals diverged and they came to blows when the Princess wouldnât go along with Magnetressâ plans for world domination. Magnetress was defeated and so she gathered many of the Princessâ foes together, many of them only starting their lives of crime because of how they were treated in this society by gender and decided not to wait around for the world to be more evolved and to demand their place!
Scarlet Priestess (Scarlet Witch+Zara) â Zara Maximoff was raised by a clan of gypsies. They would pretend to see the future, and throw around blessings and curses like candy but it wasnât real. If it had been real it may have saved them from the Nazis but this was not to be. Zaraâs family was all captured and many slaughtered just for who they were. Zara was forced to be a slave for a high ranking officer and his men, forced into unspeakable acts just to avoid the camps. Soon she found herself whispering her old family spells and curses to herself over and over as a defense mechanism, shutting out the world until finally she snapped and her tormentors erupted spontaneously into flames, burning to death before her. She found she now had master over a mystical flame with which she could vex her enemies and rain destruction on the men whoâd taken advantage of her. This worldview soon expanded to all men in positions of power and this in turn led her into conflict with Princess X. She was one Magnetressâ earliest recruits, the magnetic villainess taking the damaged angry young woman under her wing as a pseudo-daughter.
Poison Tree Frog (Toad+Doctor Poison) â Maru Toynbee was born with a birth defect leaving her mentally advanced but physically malformed. Her classmates were fond of saying that she looked like a frog, a comment even her parents seemed to agree with when they thought she wasnât listening. She longed to be like the other âprincess girlsâ but fate had other plans. So she grew up in misery, torment and abuse. This made her indifferent to it on the outside, seemingly resigned to her role as the butt of every joke and the object of mocking and scorn but deep inside, possibly subconsciously a great resentment grew. As other girls left schooling to get married and have babies, and become housewives she buried herself in her studies to avoid the loneliness. She advanced as far as she could for a woman and became a chemistâs assistant. She found as she helped him day and night, including beginning to do much of his work for him that she had quite a knack for chemicals and lab work. When Princess X debuted she saw everything she ever wanted to be; beauty, brains and power and not to mention the respect of men. Instead of admiration she found herself consumed with resentment and hatred. She began to experiment with toxins and poisons, first on her boss and then on anyone she could rationalize as having helped cause her pain. She called herself the Poison Tree Frog and soon came into conflict with the very woman who triggered her psychotic break, the Princess herself, and shortly thereafter fell into the clutches of Magnetress who abused her just enough to keep her in line and praised her just enough to earn her undying loyalty.
Snowstorm (Unus+Blue Snowman) â Byrna Unuscione was an Italian scientist under Benito Mussolini. She was constantly undervalued because of her gender, causing her to dress in a mannish fashion and often even being mistaken for a man. This wasnât just to gain some respect, or to be taken seriously, it was also like a force field; a way to keep people at a distance and to be left alone. This worked somewhat for a while but she never truly felt content. She drudged along in misery and at least hoped to earn some happiness in her achievements but those were taken from her, with men getting the credit. So when she invented a powerful weapon that could emit a localized snowstorm she ran with it, literally. Having no sovereign nation behind her, she fled to America and began using her weapon to commit crimes. She could prevent law enforcement from getting anywhere near her with her machine, a protective field of snow, wind and ice keeping them at bay. She found though that even the papers attributed her crimes to an unknown male. Infuriated she stepped up her attacks and soon faced Princess X who was powerful enough to brave her blizzards. She saw this woman, who was beautiful and powerful but also respected and her anger increased; so she leapt at Magentressâ offer.
Frenzy (Quicksilver+Cheetah) â Petra Rich was a socialite, and while to other socialites their wealth and status was just the way it always had been and meant nothing, to her it was everything. For a Jewish woman at that time in Romania to rise above her heritage, through mostly lies admittedly, was nothing to scoff at. On the eve of her wedding to a well-connected young man she let her defenses slip just once and told her intended of her true identity; he became enraged that he had unknowingly promised himself to a Jew and at the prospect of humiliation and he attacked her. Something inside her awoke, a voice telling her fight back. A ferocity heretofore unknown to her took over and she nearly killed him, escaping with a speed that left her nearly invisible. Where her strange fighting power and speed came from she never knew, she just knew she would never be weak again. She chopped off most of her hair and adopted an animalistic costume, of pelts and tight fighting un-lady-like material. She was the only one of the sisterhood who sought out Magnetress before facing Princess X, having heard of the villain and her fight for womenâs takeover. Once a member of the group she formed a sisterly bond with the Scarlet Priestess, as both had been abused by men; even becoming a little over protective of her. She also devoted herself to earning Magnetressâ approval and since she had never faced the Princess one on one like the others, tried all the harder to making herself her greatest enemy.
Mindmistress (Mastermind+Hypnota) â Despite her fair complexion this enigmatic young woman claims to be a magician from a far off middle eastern country, though this and a myriad of other things about the woman called the Mindmistress cannot be trusted. She first appeared as a legitimate illusionist, performing across the world and all the while using her vast mental powers to con and rob those who would come to see her shows. This activity soon graduated to kidnapping, luring those whose minds read of power and influence into her reach and ransoming them back to their kin. This eventually led to Gabriel Trevor (Gabrielle Haller+Steve Trevor) a Jewish US soldier who was in love with Princess X, and also in possession of a stolen horde of Nazi gold, into her power. She had hoped, upon reading Gabrielâs mind, that the Princess would retrieve the gold for her to get Gabriel back. Instead Princess X defeated Mindmistress and revealed her criminal ways to her adoring audiences. Enraged the Mindmistress joined up with Magnetress, using her powers to their cruelest heights and waiting for the day when she is inside Princess Xâs mind.
Humonga (The Blob+Giganta) â The âmuscleâ of Magnetressâ cadre is a former sideshow act, whose unnatural strength is coupled with a misshapen and gigantic frame. Having been abused all her life by men, women and children alike, she is far more broken than the others. She was just waiting for a little spark of kindness, someone to see her as a human being instead of just some dumb âapeâ. When a child who had showed her kindness during her show was being verbally abused by her father she snapped. She went berserk and began to tear the place apart and almost killed the man, when she was being arrested it happened again and this time there was no crying child to calm her fists and when things escalated beyond the policeâs control Princess X stepped in and not only put a stop to things but attempted to befriend Humonga. This almost worked but after Princess X tried to get her to go to the station simply to answer questions about what had happened, Humonga believed she was being betrayed again by another âbeautiful personâ. Their fight caused immense damage but eventual Humonga was brought in and imprisoned. Releasing Humonga was the first act that the Sisterhood of Villainy did as a group, and as a group they vowed to make the world, men, and the betrayer of women Princess X pay.

Have to ponder. Don't mind big casts, heck would love to write the LSH myself, just with the Fantastic Four it just seems to me the name kind of dictates the size of the team. I don't mind those times when they had a few super powered houseguests, but prefer they be a quartet.

As far as I can tell she's mostly fallen out of use but when she does show up they mostly pull a '90s Jean Grey where she just goes by her real name.

Detroit. Always Detroit. Even if Cindy isnt meant to be called Gypsy anymore for political correctness. We can't? What's her name now? DC still seems to be using the codename Gypsy but Cindy hasnât appeared in a while so itâs hard to know. The codename isnât PC-friendly and Iâve seen a lot of people refer to her simply as Cindy or G*psy. Gypsy is considered derogatory now but thatâs probably because Cindy doesnât actually seem to be Romani.

It's also because Gypsy, or Pikey, or Gypo is a slur - So I can understand why they'd want to distance themselves from that.

Yeah. The correct term for the ethnic group a Romano or Roma. Although many groups still refer to themselves as Gypsies and both Irish and UK based groups also use Irish Traveller or simply Traveller (since the group is traditionally nomadic) and they identify the culture differently than those from from Romanian roots.
Still, a point can be made that an American girl from the Heartland has no business appropriating the culture. Rebirth should make her Romani or change her aesthetic.

Alright, here's a quick one:
The Legends of Tomorrow+The Exiles=
The Elseworlders
White Canary+Blink=Hummingbird, Sarah Ferguson a teleporting former assassin whose chosen to lead a motley crew of oddballs and loners to repair the multiverse. From a dystopic timeline ruled by Ra's Al Pocalypse where she was saved from being his killing machine.
Captain Cold+Magnus=Polestar, Leonard Lehnsherr a wisecracking slightly amoral man whose powers are as much a curse as a gift. Attuning him to life at the poles of the earth allowing him to lower the surrounding temperature and affect magnetic fields but with no control over either. Dies early on and is quickly replaced.
Heatwave+Sunfire=Sunstroke, Rory Yoshida a butch lesbian with the power of fire. Surly and aggressive she is nonetheless a loyal team member.
Firestorm+Morph=Matrix, Kevin Jackson and Sidney Stein are two very different people who whose transformation was brought on by a nuclear accident. Causing them to rapidly mutate, they find they are now merged into a single entity with complete control over their body makeup and an excess of radiation to fire off in bolts of force but no way to ever seperate... driving them both quite mad.
Atom+Mimic=Replicant, Cal Palmer was a brilliant engineer and scientist who created a suit of armor designed to duplicate the skill set of any opponent. Finding himself out of depth with super powered combatants however he has had to quickly adjust, to mixed results.
Vixen+Nocturne=Vesper, Amaya Wagner is from a long line of heroics with both ancestors and predicted future descendant said to be among the greatest champions, due to her long lineage she has quite a mixed bag of abilities allowing her shadow travel, telepathy and the power to call upon animal spirits. She controls these with the aid of a mystic amulet that belonged to her witch mother.
Steel+Thunderbird=Iron Totem, Nathan Proudstar the hulking powerhouse of the team whose already great strength and durability were pushed to the max by yet another alternate version of Ra's Al Pocalypse. Falls in love with Vesper despite being warned that this was not part of her destined legacy, causing them to fear the repercussions.
Rip Hunter+Sabretooth=The Hunter, Rip Creed the bestial mentor of Hummingbird who'd been drafted into the service of the multiverse before her and watches over her and her team before being shunted off to yet another alternate timeline.
Zari+Sasquatch=North Wind, Zari Hudson an extremely intelligent Muslim scientist from an alternate version of Canada. Despite her background her powers are rooted in magic not science as an elder god has inhabited her body on some level and while she maintains her consciousness she finds she now transforms into a gigantic beast with power over the very air.
