Hot darn, I look away for two minutes, and eleven new issues drop! Productivity for the win!!
I guess I got me some reading to do.
*nod*
Speaking of which, here are some…
Quick Fire Thoughts on Justice League #1
Warning, Possible Spoilers.
Following both the Legion of Doom, and the #0 of this same series, the new Justice League (whom are not of the ‘dark’ variety) has officially arrived at DC2K, and my curiosity is peeked. I am not too proud to admit that, well, despite my many years of on and off reading, I have almost no idea as to whom any of these characters are, which goes to demonstrate an inherent advantage our fan fiction worlds have over the Official counterpart.
Being as we don’t have to worry about such pesky things as sales, making money or appealing to demographics, the opportunity presents itself to think outside the box, and pull upon the obscure to tell some tales that we just wouldn’t get otherwise. Mr. Cheese is taking full advantage of this state of affairs, and I can’t wait to see how this all comes together in the future.
In contrast, Batman is most certainly a familiar face, and the sequence he finds himself on the wrong end of is downright haunting, with someone clearly intent on running the Dark Knight to the ragged edge. Me thinks the new League will soon become involved, whether he wants them to or not.
Kudos Points for the referencing of Batgirl, that’s always a bonus in my book.
XD

It’s most appreciated. This League was never meant to be a big name series, almost akin to the Avengers over in M2K. Most have been somewhat forgotten and as such it’s a pleasure to once again bring them to the forefront once again. As for Batman’s haunting, it appears as if the Titan is trying to erode his resolve bit by bit as thanks for helping the Legion of Doom to bring down the original Justice League. It’s my pleasure to sneak a bit of the current continuity into what ever I’m writing even if it’s just a mention.

I like this new take on the League so far, including the "cheap plug" within the issue. You all know what I'm talking about? LoL

So I wrote a whole suite of reviews for this release on the train on Friday, only to lose them after pressing submit just as I went into a tunnel. So here we are taking a second whack at this thing and hopefully I can get through this first bank of three reviews without losing WiFi or anything. Anyway let's get this show on the road...
Batgirl #11 - Emma Woods continues to bring Batgirl’s world to light, as well as develop the relationship between Stephanie and her supporting cast, noticeably Tim Drake and Bette Kane. In addition, she delivers a surprise twist at the end of the issue with the mystery figure waiting in the wings attacking police officers on the dark streets of the Narrows. As always, the series is brilliantly done and I have hopes for it going into the New Year.
Rating - 9.5/10 (No Delay)
Hellblazer #2 - Hellblazer is perhaps one of the most interesting series going and not just because I can see my lab from John Constantine’s latest battle with magical forces. As usual Chris Munn delivers excellent action on top of brilliant dialogue, particularly for Constantine, against a dystopian setting that feels so accurate. Hopefully we will see a further development of what is to come as this series develops under the writer’s pen.
Rating - 9/10 (No Delay)
Teen Titans #8 - I’ve long had a rocky relationship with DC 2000s Teen Titans series. Thankfully Patrick Moore’s determination has made the series come forward in leaps and bounds, as evidenced in his latest offering. The flashback in particular brought old memories as well as introducing a new version of HIVE, one that lead to an interesting development to the storyline and one character in particular. Hopefully Patrick will keep the train on track and continue to deliver stories of quality in the new year.
Rating - 8,75/10 (No Delay)

Thanks, Johncheese.
I have been working on something big for the Teen Titans in 2019, including a new version of Control Freak from the cartoon, and a possible spin-off title limited series for a new Titans version of the Trinity after the first arc ends. As for the HIVE revival, I wanted to do the how did this happen story with how the Titans in my series started before with that event. Then I went back to current time for Red Robin to leave the team, and the big twist at the end is going to be major big to hit Teen Titans hard.

Sir, giant squid off the stern and there...carrying placards demanding more reviews? Far be it from me to go against our squishy cephalopod overlords (or D.Golightly for that matter) so here are some more reviews. Will the writers be up to the task or are they destined to head to the bottom? Argh you land lubbers let's find out.
Doom Patrol #6 - Doom Patrol continues to be one of those titles that makes me feel like I'm on a chilie × sugar high with all the crazy goings on. No doubt that was Travis Hiltz's intent, as he brings us a crazy cast in an entertaining tale, particularly during Danny the Street's interaction with Misour Mallah, who currently is stealing the spotlight in a great way in this series. Hopefully we'll get more crazy shenanigans from him and the others next year*
Rating - 8.5/10 (Tentacular)
*Except those dolphins, there is something sinister about them
Girl of Steel #8 - Kara's horizons expand as the titular character of Emma Woods's series meets the other titular character of Emma Woods's other series. In all honesty this was an adorable issue which showed a more human side of Kara, namely her claustrophobia (because of her time in Space Moria) and her need for company. The writer always handles her characters well but this time she's stepped it up a gear, which bodes well for next year's isdues.
Rating - 9.5/10 (Tentacular)
Impulse #15 - What can I say about Impulse #15 other than it being nuttier than squirrel poo.
Hmm the Giant Squid seem to want more. Honestly this issue reminded me a lot of some of Tobias Christopher's, stand alone Alpha series on Fan Fiction.net, which isn't a bad thing at all. This issue was generally a light hearted note for the end of the year, but I'm sure big trouble is right round the corner for the cast. As such I can't wait for 2019s shenanigans to arrive, I'm sure they are going to be great.
Rating - 9.5/10 (Tentacular)

To be honest, I write DP for me and if any of the rest of you get it or enjoy it that is just tinsel. It amuses me endlessly that Mallah is the breakout character. Guess that bodes well for when his quest to find the Brain kicks into high gear in 2019.

One last effort is all that remains, while I may have completed my real world festive shopping in October, I have three last things to deliver, namely something sanguine, something super and er something Starro. Well lets keep this on schedule and get those reviews outta here...
Action Comics #19 - Things plod along at an acceptable pace for the extended Kent family, but honestly sometimes that is just what a story requires. Tobias Christopher's other family drama reflects on the past adventures and makes sure everyone gets some character development as we head into 2019. No doubt tumultuous times are on the horizon as the action continues.
Rating - 8.5/10 (Delivered)
Red Hood and the Outsiders #6 - Jake Hawkins writes some of the best action scenes, and no title brings us a better example as this one. Not only do we get a fight scene but we get a car chase too! And it seems Ras al Ghul is rising the stakes as we enter 2019. Hopefully Black Canary can make it to then, considering her punishment this year (partially my fault) she deserves a chance to shine.
Rating - 9.25/10 (Delivered)
Starman #3 - Starman confuses me, mostly because it's been so long between issues. Hence why it's last up to bat so I could reread Steve Crosby's series in it's entirety. The series deserves that at least, and is a great reminder of how small or underused characters punch well above their weight. Hopefully it won't be too far into 2019 before we see Starro's sinister plan come to fruition.
Rating - 8.5/10 (Delivered!)

Rating - 9.5/10 (No Delay) As always, thankyou kindly for the kind words, I am equally hopeful that I will be able to hit the ground running in 2018, kicking things off with the second part of this story in issue 12. Providing I manage to stick the landing (fingers crossed), issue twelve will be bit of a benchmark for my time on Batgirl, and will be chance to take stock of how far Stephanie has come since issue 1 way back when. It will be a mini celebration of where she's been and where she's going, and hopefully we'll be able to see how much she's grown. The first twelve issues have been a blast, and I can't wait to write even more XD

The writer always handles her characters well but this time she's stepped it up a gear, which bodes well for next year's isdues. Rating - 9.5/10 (Tentacular) As much as I would love to claim to be a master manipulator of plots, a shocking amount of what ends up happening in my series tend to be last minute additions. I always have a framework going in, but things like Kara's claustrophobia reveal themselves to me as I'm writing, and if it feels right, then it goes in, so I'm glad to hear that it resonates with other peeps as well XD As soon as it was confirmed that I would be helming both Batgirl and Supergirl, it was inevitable that the duo were going to cross paths (and I already have a second meeting solidified in mind at some point in the future), and this issue provided me with the perfect opportunity to do so. Kara went through a lot during the first five issues of Girl of Steel, so I felt it was necessary for her to enjoy some 'downtime', which has also provided me with an opportunity to develop her adjustment to a new world without things blowing up around her. The last three issues have been a lot of fun to write but, once I have dotted all of the I's and crossed all of the T's, the next major arc in Supergirl's life is about to begin (not counting her presence in Action Comics, which is also awesome), and we'll see if the Girl of Steel who was forged in the Heart of the Mountain is indeed strong enough to endure the trials to come. The Eradication Mandate is about to begin...

Quick Fire Thoughts on Truth of Dare #7
Warning, Possible Spoilers.
Aliki just can’t seem to catch a break, just as a think she’s starting to find her footing, a new enforcer is in town who proves to be more than she can handle (at this time), the desperation by the end leaping off the page. This was a great match up which highlighted their contrasting fighting styles, and I eagerly await their next confrontation, along with however a certain man of kites (hell yeah!) will play into things later.
Great stuff as usual from a Title that you will never see from DC Prime, and an equally great example of what you can do with characters that are more obscure than the mainstays.

Wow thanks for this, unfortunately I concur that this title woukd die a painful death in actual canon, thankfully here it can florish. I also agree that Aliki can't catch a break, last time it was Pathfinder, this time it's the Terrible Trio. Considering her shocking defeat things won't be easy, especially when Fox and Vulture join Shark on the hunt. So 'Hell Yeah' thanks for the review. *Nods*
