Just because something isn’t there, doesn’t mean it’s gone, case in point Marvel 2000 and D.C. 2000. So with no further ado let’s see who’s entered the light and which titles are stuck in the shadows.
In other times it’s strain’ for a reviewin’
Beware Spoilers and like...Moving Traffic.
Arisa #2 - The (at the time of writing) newest title of Emma’s continues, juxtaposing Arisa’s return with the terrible scourging of the red lanterns. This issue was very exposition heavy, but it didn’t weigh on the story too much and the author painted some beautiful visuals in regards to the planets. All in all Arisa looks as if it’s shaping up to be one interesting space opera that utilises the vast amount of characters D.C. has in its cosmic arsenal. Also a big thank you to Emma for getting things out at last, late is always better than never.
Batgirl #13 - Batgirl continues as we start a new arc, one that potentially brings a deadly new force, ‘the Underground Men’, to the Narrows. Emma’s characters continue to thrill, and her writing definitely showed the tension of Bette being absent, perhaps even taken by some sinister force. As always Batgirl, is my last read of a release, mostly because the title is and always will be special. Good work Dmma, hopefully the story will continue very soon.
Girl of Steel #10 - Now to the Midwest and Emma’s Girl of Steel title. While usually Batgirl steals focus, in my opinion this title was the most intriguing. Kara’s struggle to fit in speaks to all of us in some level and hopefully Earth feels more like home soon. On the other end of the story the reveal of the Arc villain Origin was very well done. It’s appearance brings up many questions, ones I feel will rock D.C. 2000‘s world.
Hellblazer #4 - Working in London, I get to see all the quirks and charms (sarcastically spoken) that Chris Munn covers in this title. The dip into Constantine’s past love life was particularly intresting and sets up the arc very well, as well as making me wonder what evil is behind these attacks and what it’s personal vendetta with John is (presuming jilted ex-lover tbh). What ever it is, a good start for hopefully a good year for D.C. 2000.
