Hi Y'all, because I don't know when the next release will be and because a certain Nero and a certain Hannigan are my choice of free writing characters, please find a few short (usually about a page) stories posted below. I'll get round to posting the majority soon. Hope you enjoy and if you do, leave a comment.
Many Thanks

Nero and Hannigan
in
The Otherworldly Intruders _____________________________
Hellier, Kentucky Sarah Hannigan slipped out of the Toyota Hilux parked at the base of the house, just as her partner Mike Nero switched the engine off, drawing his holstered gun. Nodding the pair of investigators walked up to the door and knocked, waiting for a about half a minute, ears straining for any sign of life inside.
“Is it locked?” Sarah whispered, as she drew her own handgun. Kneeling down Mike looked at the lock and shook his head, before pushing down on the handle. As the door was opened, the interior of the house looked like it had been ransacked, an oily sheen on the banister of the stairs leading upwards and on the doors.
“Go get the kit.” Mike ordered as he began to check the rooms of the house. Retreating back to the house, Sarah went round the back of the Hilux and flipped open a sealed case, removing a pair of divining rods and a three athames that she slotted onto his belt. As she turned back to the house, the sun setting behind her, she saw the rods explode in a shower of white, grey and black sparks. Dropping the rods, Sarah ran to the house, just as Mike was heading upstairs.
“We need to leave!” Sarah pleaded. “We need to leave now!”
“What did you see?” Mike asked as he headed upstairs, Sarah hot on his heels.
“The rods, they went through the Dark Spectrum without being held together. I’ve never seen that before, but you have.” Sarah cried as Mike checked a bed room, the window pushed open wider than it could have ever been naturally.
“We need to leave.” Mike gulped as he backed away from the room, and headed for the stairs. “I need you to make light, as much light as you can.” He added as he walked across the hallway to the open door only to stop as he saw three figures crouched on the Toyota. Little more than three-foot-tall, the figures were a pale white with large black unblinking eyes, the only feature besides these eyes was a small slit where the mouth should be.
“What are those?” Sarah asked, as Mike fired a few shots at the figures, catching one in the chest, only for the round to bounce off with a metallic clink.
“Light now!” Mike yelled, as the figures dropped off the truck and began to walk towards the house. Firing more shots, Mike was relieved as Sarah started mumbling something in Farsi, a bright burning light radiating from her hands, before she flung the light at the truck, the orb resting beside the front tyre. As the orb had left her hands, they started glowing again as she got ready to throw another glowing light this time directly at the creatures.
“What are these things?!” Sarah cried as her body began to shiver, the magic she was summoning taking a toll on her.
“Not now!” Mike yelled as he fired his last shot, dropped the gun and removed his back-up-piece, each shot fired bouncing off the advancing creatures. As Sarah threw another orb of light, the creatures stopped their advance, chirping and buzzing at each other. “Don’t let them grab you, their stronger than they look.” He announced as he kept his weapon trained on the creatures. “If they flee, we don’t follow them.” He ordered as Sarah handed him her pistol. As she did a clawed hand reached down from the awning above them, grabbing her hair, dragging Sarah off her feet. Reacting quickly, Mike turned and fired shots into the creature, forcing it to drop her, levitating off the awning and back to where its three comrades were standing.
Her scalp covered in scratches, Sarah grinded her teeth before firing two more orbs of light at the creatures, the combined light illuminating the area as if it were mid-afternoon. Scattering the figures retreated back to the tree line, shielding their eyes from the bright light that had appeared from nowhere. Running to the truck, Mike and Sarah leapt in, with the former gunning the engine as it reversed out of the property and onto the road. Caught in the headlights, as the magical orbs faded, the creatures stalked back up to the house, their chirping vocalisation buzzing around through the darkness as they drove away.
“What were those things?” Sarah asked as Mike kept his eyes focused on the road.
“Something my uncle never had a name for.” Mike replied as he looked in the rear-view mirror. “Something that despises light but is untouched by magic or metallurgy. Something better left alone.”
