And we're back to quasi normality, maybe, possibly...well not really, but heh a new release. And a new release means new reviews (possibly, maybe...definitely not for my stuff but that's life). So on with the reviews.
Beware spoilers...and that dancing plaque in Strasbourg (seriously that was messed up, fifty people danced till they died).
MAX 2000 #50 - The CODE event occasionally rears it's head, in this case in the form of the Black Leopard, T'challa's dark mirror counterpart dreamt up by Steve Crosby. Even for those who haven't read the CODE event, the issue feels easy to follow, and could quite easily be a stand alone issue or part of a Black Panther series (we've seen alternate T'Challa's before after-all- see Happy Pants Panther). The sheer cruelty and the reinforcement of how unpopular T'Challa is at times with his own people is reinforced. All in all a good read and addition to the CODE sage.
X-Men Legacy #5 - Dino Pollard brings us a conflict between the X-Men and the Brotherhood, with the later treated as serious opposition for the titular team. While the main bulk of the story seems like a standard team on team battle, Dino brings us a shock change in the closing few paragraphs of the issue. And behind this shock turn from Marrow is a bigger mystery, not why she turned but how she knew about Gambit's role in her fall from grace. It seems a mysterious mastermind is lurking in the wings as the X-Men's legacy continues.

So on with the reviews. Beware spoilers... Since you asked, I will give a review as I read them. It seemed that June was your month MARVEL FANFARE: It was a standard build-up issue, with a good perspective of the main character, Manfred Haller. At first I assumed he was an original character, but I dug deeper and apparently he is not. You went deep into the rabbit hole to find the trio you used, and I applaud you for that.
I thought that ten thousand people dying from a pier explosion was quite much, especially since 3,000 died in 9-11. The explosion had to be quite massive, which would have triggered a bigger global response , IMO. I could feel the anger in Obax in relation to Captain Croc and reading Ivory and Manfred felt like I was watching a black and white movie the way their interaction took place. Every other review about the issue will come from my new perspective. I have not read Black Panther on this site, so was your Wakanda Avengers something that happened in the M2K or were you referring to the 616s version, and you just slid it into the series? Overall it was good.

Mike and Nero: To tell you the truth, I had no idea who these two were. Obviously you have a desire for the limbo pile when I see your other titles on que for me to read. I liked it though and it goes to prove that a writer writes and its the story and not the known character to make a series. I probably will have to go to issue one to catch up on the two, though. There was alot of bickering, reminded me of a divorced couple and then there was alot of monster lore that made me want to check if they really existed in Marvel, you looked it up and molded it into comic lore, or you are just creating things in your mind.

First of all a massive thank you for the review, its most appreciated, especially on a day where I ended up working 4 till 4.
Yes the 'Behemoth' and anyone not named Mankind's Oldest Enemy is an actual marvel character. I frequently head into the Z list for characters partially because they often have so much potential if written properly, and partially because (as anyone who's read my Legion of Doom series knows) I like to put any character I write through absolute hell.
The port was more than a mere pier, it was a super port not unlike the one scheduled to be built in Senegal in a few years. While such ports are largely automated when operational, this one was still under construction and would still have a lot of manpower on site to facilitate that. As for the response, the African Union is taking the lead, but its not out of the realm of possibility that others would take notice...and do little more than sabre rattling from nations outside those directly affected (as per how real life (the exception being 9/11 of course)).
Voortreker (Captain Croc) has a shady canon history within Marvel, one it would be foolish for anyone to completely overlook. He's a classic Type 3 anti-villain, a lawman for hire and more often then not he's been the law for the numerous 'troubling' leaders that arise on the African Continent. *Disclaimer* - Every continent has these leaders, this is not a slight against Africa.
The black and white movie interaction was indded intentional, I watched Casablanca (in part because I was due to fly out to Morocco pre Covid to do some survey work, and partially as inspiration for writing).
The Avengers Africa were in one of the Avengers titles written a while ago, not quite sure by who and what issue but it wasn't be me, I'm just keeping continuity rolling..
Once again thanks for the review.

You mean Nero and Hannigan? Yep I do skulk around the Z List. As for the monster lore, its form real world folklore and mythology, something I have an interest in.
