And as we dive into June's DC 2000 releases we can see which titles are biting. With a brilliant and quite unique selection of titles to review, I'll jump straight in and get to what we are actually looking for.
Beware spoilers and.........tick bites (No thank you Lyme's Disease)
Batgirl #17 - Emma Woods burns down the house as the Inferno blows over. We get interesting information about Emiko Queen and her relationship with other characters in the DC 2000 world and get to see Dante get burnt as Killer Moth shows everyone his true colours are. Hopefully Stephanie can get home safely because the Narrows and its people are in danger, albeit not from bad writing since this title remains one of DC 2000s best.
Doom Patrol #9 - With the last arc over, we get some down time in Travis Hiltz's Doom Patrol, with the characters sitting down to forge relationships and discuss plans going forward. While the author apologies about the lack of combat, we all know and widely accept that not every issue or indeed every title has to have fisticuffs and blood loss. In my personal opinion, this issue was one of the best of the series, and I hope that the quality and interesting character development continue.
Hellblazer #6 - Hellblazer continues to my blessed relief as Chris Munn brings us what seems like, on the surface, a bottle episode (issue?), Despite this seeming façade, the issue has been one of the most enjoyable issues from the series, with the issue covering John Constantine's supporting characters. Whether this issue will be expanded on into an arc is up for question, but even if it isn't then the title is a burning light in DC 2000's cap.
