Hey gang! As promised, I've put out to the call and collected a few creepy crawl horror stories ripe for a very spooky Halloween Special. Here's what you can expect to read in it: From DC 2000... “The Man From The Train,” featuring Harvest! When a stranger pays a visit to a young girl's home, tragedy strikes and her life is forever changed... Written by John Cheese! “Candy and Crisis,” featuring Cain and Abel! The dysfunctional duo receive a dire warning from an enigmatic man... but has he really come to the right place? Written by Travis Hiltz! From Marvel 2000... “Orchard of Skulls,” featuring Pitchfork! In debt to the Maggia, a young couple arranges a money drop in the creepiest place possible... and yes, that was a mistake! Written by John Cheese! “The Butterfly Prophecies,” featuring the Man in the Mystery Mask! A terrible summoning brings the Secret Defenders to a future unlike their past, but why? Written by John Cheese! “A Haunting We Will Go,” featuring Spider-Man! Mysterious murders occur throughout New York, but fret not trick or treaters... your friendly neighborhood webslinger is on the case! Written by Cory Wiegel! Swing by a temporary site I set-up to check these stories out: m2ktemp.weebly.com/ As soon as Emma and/or Dave are back in the mix, we'll see about getting these stories a permanent home in their respective anthology titles at Marvel 2000 and DC 2000. Happy Halloween, everyone!

The world is spooky, that's just a fact. So it's a blessed relief to get a release issues thanks to the help of Cory out ready for Halloween, or in my case All Saint's Day since I didn't get to this until November. Still all releases deserve a review, so lets see what spooky situations Travis Hiltz and the aforementioned Cory Wiegel have treated us with.
Beware Spoilers...and Killer Clowns
Candy and Crisis - Having grown up in Europe I never saw trick or treating, or even heard about it until I was in my teens. Still Travis seems (to what I have seen) to have captured the spirit of the event with the characters Cain and Abel (wait who?). It rarely happens, but I had never heard of this duet, forcing me to look them up and learn their history. If that was all this story did, then I'd still call it a triumph but on top of two obscure characters, this issue had cameos galore and felt bouncy and fun, a well needed reflection to the Covid ravaged world we live in. A brilliant escapist piece of work and stand out feature of the five stories posted.
A Haunting we Will Go - In what little free time I have had, I've been watching the 90s Spiderman cartoon and quite quickly Kraven the Hunter skyrocketed up the order of my favourite characters. Enough that when I read Cory's issue I found myself in familiar territory, always a good thing unless your going for massive shock value. Which Cory then provided with Alexsandra Kravinoff and the raw emotions he managed to convey in only a single issue. The effect of the super hero/super villain dynamics effect on lives outside of costume is always inspiring and in this case makes you consider who the villain of the piece really is. A pretty cool piece and an enjoyable read, one I recommend Spiderman fans read.
And as always if you've got this far, feel free to drop your own reviews into the mix.
