An October release ready for review? Sure why not, with titles from Travis Hilton and a new Marvel 2000 series from editor-in-chief Emma Woods this is sure to be an interesting read.
So let's buckle in and beware...protesters glued to the road.
Doom Patrol #11 - When villains get a spotlight, particularly in a hero-focused book is always an interesting thing to see. And what a pairing; Mallah and Paper Cut are complete opposites of each other, and as such grind against each other when they are forced to work together against a more sinister villain. We also get a nice teaser for what happens in the upcoming issues of the title. However, once again we have the age-old problems that Travis Hilton's work suffers from namely the following; his names are a little odd i.e. Negative man over Negative Man (it's a title, so each word begins with a capital letter) and a lack of descriptive narrative. Neither is enough to detract from what the story is trying to convey, but it would be nice to see these improvements made (particularly the first of the two).
US Agent #1 - Emma plays her hand at Marvel 2000 with an interesting issue of U.S.Agent. The first scene gives us an interesting point that we are working backward from as John Walker is put through the wringer. As per all of Emma's work the title covers the emotional reactions that she is known for writing, but it also covers the brutal rage the character is known for. Looking at the dibbs list for the title nothing about what we have to expect has been given away regarding plot and what bit characters may pop up, for example, the identity of the abominable foe at the end of the issue. My money was on Therak from the Death Web during my first read, but I'm now less certain. Here's hoping to more than one answer in the upcoming issues of this debut series.
