Read this last night and I enjoyed it. The writing seems to improve each issue and it was pretty good to begin with so that's saying something. The old 'heroes practicing together in the training room' scenario works well here, though it's a difficult thing to pull off. We've seen it soooo many times before, after all, but it does offer a good chance for some characters to show their personalities. Diamond Dust and Photon, in particular, came off well. I like how Deathlok is handled here -- reminds me a lot of his 1990s series and makes me wonder if there are plans for a Deathlok spinoff miniseries or smething (hint, hint). The only downside to the training room scene was that it takes up half the issue... and that it actually seemed more interesting than the main storyline, lol. I liked the way the villains were humanized in the first scene but I'm just not thrilled about the group as a whole, yet.
A very, very solid issue.

Glad you enjoyed the issue..well, most of it anyway.
I'm still trying to get a handle on Deathlok and Photon. I know the characterizations I have in these issues doesn't hit home with some people, but trust me...I have it all worked out. There's a little "something" going on with both characters that will come to fruition as the underlying plots come together.
By issue #12, my opus will be fused together!

Actually, I think you have both Photon and Deathlok down very well.

Actually, I think you have both Photon and Deathlok down very well. You're too kind, good sir. Although I suppose that Deathlok doesn't start showing how he's changed until next issue, and the subplot with Photon gets expanded on then as well.

I'm genuinely pleased with Heroes 4 Hire. The work Dave is doing has steadily improved, and hopefully it'll continue on that track. Mr. Golightly just may have another title in the works as well.

You really gotta give Dave here his props. Not only does he write a lot and consistently at that, but he steadily improves in quality with each issue. Unlike most brand spankin' new fanfic writers, he's catching on really quickly and he's shown to have some very professional work ethic. Someone give this man his Editor's Choice already.

Actually, Cory, you gave my first attempt at fanfic EVER an Editor's Choice award. Marvel Fanfare #46, my Sentry issue.
Thanks for all the helpful feedback from you guys, and all the praise as well. I still feel like I'm stuck in AP style. Damn you Lee Wood!!! (he's an old professor of mine who I'm sure will never see this site) Writing newspaper articles for years before trying to write fanfic will do that to ya.
