I had a lot of fun with the Ultimate Avengers, but sadly the enthusiasm just didn't last. Probably because, after making Wasp a prostitute there really wasn't anywhere left to go.
Ultimate is a funny thing in that it has different meanings for different people. The violent blockbuster feel most commonly associated with the titles is really just because Mark Millar started some of them.

I was thinking about taking a stab at either Ultimate X-Men, or Ultimate Avengers. Is there a certain direction that you guys would like to title to go that I should keep in mind while forming a pitch? Welcome to the boards, Marshal! Ultimate X-Men would be your best bet, considering Ultimate Avengers is about to be launched by our very own D. Golightly. I would say that you should stick very close to the original "spirit" of the X-Men and Xavier's dreams, ideals, and nature, but give the series and mutants a very realistic twist. While Mark Millar's run on Ultimate X-Men wasn't popular with some, I really did like how he was able to capture the idealism in Xavier's dream.

Well then, I guess I'll be going with Ultimate X-Men then! ;D I think I'll do what you suggested and go with more realistic, more human relatable characters. Make sure they each have their flaws. I'm thinking about a cast of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Cannonball, Wolfsbane, Storm, and Gambit being lead by Hank McCoy, Professor Xavier, and Moira Mactaggert. How does that sound?

It's really hard for any of us to comment until we see a full-fledged proposal, but my initial reaction is that the cast is a bit large. While Daniel and David may disagree and while I may totally change my mind once I see your proposal, I personally prefer casts of about 5 to 8 characters. As for the characters themselves, it largely depends on your re-interpretations of them (i.e. ages, archetypes, roles on the team, etc), but my gut reaction says that it may be a little mishmashed with the inclusions of Frost, Cannonball, and Wolfsbane. You may want to consider some more traditional X-Men, such as Angel, Shadowcat, and Nightcrawler. Everyone else looks totally fine, though.

It is a big cast, and I've actually paired it down a bit. I have a pitch pretty much ready for you, but I was wondering if there was an easier way for us to communicate?

Are there any other plans for Ultimate titles besides Ultimate Avengers, and Ultimate X-Men in the works?

Meriades was interested in an Ultimate Defenders title a while ago, but since he's cut way back on fanfic, we're not sure if he still has as much desire to do it still.

I sent a pitch to Mr. Weigel, Mr. Golightly, and Mr. Ingram.

If TPTB don't mind my soliciting writers here ...
I had submitted a rejected idea for a series of one-shot stories based on the Captain Britain Corps, and currently have plans to host it elsewhere. However, I know nothing about the European Defense Initiative. Would anyone like to write for me a one-shot story featuring this team for my anthology?

This is off-topic, Mike, and should be posted in the General Discussion board. You'll probably be able to get more replies that way, too, since this is a thread about Ultimate things.

D.G.: I only posted it here because the European Defense Initiative only exists in the Ultimate universe, so I wanted to catch people who already had an interest in writing about it.

We've recieved your prop and we'll be getting back to you soon. I'll say that the ideas you've offered thus far are very original.

I'm still really proud of the basic concept we came up with for our ULTIMATE AVENGERS. The execution could've been better, but the concept rocked. Especially the F4.
