Subject to editorial approval I'm going to be writing a new Marvel Team-Up series beginning soon, with a basic set-up of Spider-Man-plus-one in each self-contained issue just like the traditional 70s/80s version.
(To all writers: This will be a M2K-continuity-free project, taking familiar versions of characters from certain points in the Marvel timeline, so I'm not coming to steal your Dibs...)
I'm opening up the floor to suggestions for co-stars. If you'd like to see a character featured in this series, give them a yell (NOTE: I'm ideally looking at an alternate male/female schedule and I've already written stories for The Human Torch, The Wasp, Nightcrawler and Magik). I can't promise I'll take all suggestions on board (mainly if I don't know enough about the character) but I'd love to hear some input if you have the time!
Cheers, Meri

I think it would be really interesting if Spider-Man teamed up with Steel Spider. Of course I'm referring to a darker version of the character that had recently appeared in Ellis' Thunderbolts. Spider-Man encountering an obsessed fan that's taken his example a bit too far would just be very interesting to me.
Team-Ups with Falcon, Captain Marvel II and Nomad would also be fun I think. Hell, you could even have seperate stories of Spider-Man teaming up with Ms. Marvel, Binary and Warbird.

You know that Spider-Man, Firestar, and Iceman all need to make a team-up, Meri!

Ha! Amazing Friends-style!
The book is a go with us, Meri. When we discussed your Ultimate titles a couple months ago I think we were all in agreement that your ideas for Marvel Team-Up would be welcomed.
My suggestion for a team-up: Cyclops!

It might be an odd choice but I'd like to see Spider-Man team-up with Batroc the Leaper.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.
Funnily enough I was already thinking of an Iceman and Firestar Amazing Friends issue!
I'll add all mentioned characters to my list with the exlcusion of: Steel Spider (because I unfortunately have no idea who that is) and possibly Nomad (because I've hardly read anything comics-wise with him in it and would therefore be worried I wouldn't get his character right). Is Captain Marvel II the Monica Rambeau version? If so, she's in; if it's Genis, he's out, for the same reason as Nomad. And I'll add Batroc to the villain list for a villains-special team-up issue.

Batroc is a mercenary with a sense of 'honair' however; he could play the hero given the right opportunity. I love anything with Batroc in it.

Captain Marvel II is in fact Monica Rambeau aka Photon, before she decided to give up the name to Genis. Steel Spider is Ollie Osnick, once known as Spider-Kid. First idolized Doctor Octopus until Doc Ock tried to kill him, and when Spider-Man saved Ollie's life the idolization shifted to him. No powers, but Ollie was a smart guy who designed a set of tentacles similar to Doc Ock's that he later converted into spider-legs. Once he teamed up with Frog-Man and Toad into the Misfits, a team that was exactly as effective as you would think it'd be. Later Ollie gave up the suit and got a hot girlfriend, but when she got mugged he adopted the new identity of Steel Spider and brutally beat the muggers.

I agree with Mike here, given the right circumstances, Batroc would act the hero.
He has in the past turned on fellow villians when they plan WMD attacks because he believes that it is a dishonorable way to kill someone.

My suggestions: Wasp, Vision, Man-Thing, and ROM Spaceknight!

I vote for ROM and Powerman and Iron Fist. Any one know what happened to ROM after his series was canceled? Haven't really heard from him since.

My understanding is that the series ended with ROM reclaiming his humanity and living on Galador while his fellow Spaceknights stand guard in space. But Spider-Man can team up with ROM while he's still hunting Dire Wraiths.

ROM, greatest of all the Spaceknights, will be making an appearance in a future arc of Avengers Immortal as well. All hail ROM! And Meri, I also put in an MTU vote for the Micronauts.
