Steel Spider is Ollie Osnick, once known as Spider-Kid. Seriously? Hah! I remember Ollie...

Heh, you beat me to it. ROM is kitsch heaven and I'll add him to the list. I don't know much about the Micronauts but I've always planned to get around to reseraching them one day, ostensibly for a 'mega-event' type story where all the heroes get shrunk down into the Microverse by a band of despicable types and have to fight their way back to Earth through a spiral of weird and wonderful micro-realms...

You know that Spider-Man, Firestar, and Iceman all need to make a team-up, Meri! Funny you mention that -- Russ Anderson did a Spidey/Amazing Friends team-up over at MV1 years ago, even introducing a villain from the TV show into continuity. Dunno if it's still up anywhere but it was entertaining.

That's awesome. I'll have to try and track it down some time.
By the way. Good to see you on the boards again, Will.

Still having computer problems these days but I while the main laptop's getting fixed I do have internet access on my desktop so I should be around. And for the subject at hand... I think Hawkeye would be a good fit for Spidey. Funny, risk-taking, with more experience and a ladies' man. And I bet Spidey would have a good time making fun of Hawkeye's weapon of choice. Honestly, a triple team-up of Hawkeye, Human Torch, and Spidey would be great -- three sarcastic guys trying to work together and taking potshots at each other, but I know you've already got a spidey/Torch story ready. Storm might play a good straight-(wo)man to Spidey, plus she's a female, to help balance. Black Widow is an obvious but potentially good opportunity -- I imagine Peter somehow botching Natasha's mission early on and trying to make it up to her throughout. The fact that he clearly has a thing for at least one redhead makes me think that, like most guys, he'd be attracted to and a little intimidated by the Widow. All I got for now.

Damn, that Widow idea sounds awesome. It might be basically the plot to the ULTIMATE TEAM-UP with the two -- I honestly don't remember, but if not, thank you sir. I could see Meri improving on it quite a bit.

A couple of things that have been floating through the twisted mess called my brain.
Would a better title for this series not be "Spider-Man Team-Up" since he is going to be in every issue and it is essentially a Spider-Man title.
And is this exclusively Meri's title or will we be seeing arcs by other M2K writers in it?

Meri has a bunch of stuff in the can, but I don't see any reason why someone else couldn't jump in with a decent story.

A time travel story where he meets Spider Queen? ...? Again, I'll need someone to fill me in on that one.

Three of my favourite characters! Storm will definitely appear at some point in the next few months, but it may take a little longer for Hawkeye and Black Widow. I've already dabbled with the Spider-Man Team-Up theme back at AltMarvel with Spectacular Spider-Man, and the nine issues I wrote of that series had Black Widow and Hawkeye as co-stars (as well as Daredevil, Morningstar, Ghost Rider, Spider-Woman II, The Shroud, The Scarlet Witch and She-Hulk, for the record). I wanted to try out some different characters this time around, so the first five co-stars of this run (Human Torch, The Wasp, Nightcrawler, Magik and Iron Man) are heroes I've never written before (not counting ultimate-style versions). The votes are added to the pile, however, so Clint and Natasha may get their chance sooner than expected...

Totally understand wanting to write characters you haven't worked with so much before, especially in the same team-up format, but I'm glad BW and Clint are eventual candidates and that Storm's coming up. I'm looking forward to that one.

Would a better title for this series not be "Spider-Man Team-Up" since he is going to be in every issue and it is essentially a Spider-Man title. And is this exclusively Meri's title or will we be seeing arcs by other M2K writers in it? The series is Marvel Team-Up simply because it's based on the classic 70s/80s Marvel title of that name. Only something like 6-8 issues out of 150 of that series didn't have Spider-Man in, so my version is just following that tradition. And, even though the prose style is first-person narrative in Spidey's voice I'm hoping his co-stars will prove to be the real stars of the series rather than him as I settle into the writing of it. With regard to exclusivity, I'm afraid you're stuck with me for the forseeable future. The deal I made with the Eds is that I'd write the title up until the time I decided to step down, either because of time commitments or because I'd run out of steam. At that point I guess the title would be treated the same as any other; if another writer (or writers) wanted to take over then they'd get the nod, otherwise it would be classed as an Open or Completed series. But, yeah, for now it's just me.

I'm looking forward to that one. Another thing I'm trying to do is to not be too biased towards any one hero team - so rotating between an Avengers character, then an X character, then a Knights character, then an FF character, etc. With issues # 3 & 4 as X-stories, it'll probably be issue # 8 or 10 for her, sometime next spring or early summer. Which actually isn't very soon at all, thinking about it. Sorry. Hopefully you won't have lost interest by then...
