I've been pretty busy lately, but I decided to sit down and catch up on the last series that I approved before stepping down as EiC. Though I won't be able to lay down a full-blown review, I did want to post some of my thoughts on this issue.
Though last issue was a great re-introduction to the series and its characters (essentially a set-up issue), it was nice to see Jeff take us right into the action. While Ares and his sons scheme to wage battle on the mortal world, Gravitron attacks L.A. and is confronted by the Champions and Black Goliath. The Gravitron's quite the threat here, easily dispatching two of the team's most powerful members (Hercules and Ghost Rider), as well as Black Goliath himself. If he was able to take them down so easily, how are Angel, Iceman, and Black Widow going to fair? My guess is the decidedly absent Darkstar will have a say in the outcome of the battle with Gravitron.
Jeff's pacing and writing style are top notch as usual, but I can't help but wonder what Gravitron's motivation for attacking the city is? It seems apparent that he's decided to kidnap a number of attractive women, but I hope that's not all. I'd like to see more of his reason for coming to the west coast and laying siege to it, as well as Darkstar joining the battle, next issue. Still, this issue works well because of the action and the confrontation between the Champions and Gravitron, so it was a pretty enjoyable one regardless. Keep it up, Jeff! I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks, Cory. I've always appreciated the support you've given my writing, both when you were EiC and today. As for Graviton, his motivations, and how the first arc ends, just hang on until next issue.
