Word of Mouf Reviews: January 2009, New X-Men issue #1 by Cory Wiegel, Reviewed by: Frank Paul Bigoski, IV (AKA:
The Wordy Mouf beotch!).
That's right beotches I'm backkkk. Heh, nah, but anyways, I liked the New X-Men opener.
Reason number 1, the Blob being used as basically a deep penetration bomb... Never though I'd see that, but it was probably the funniest use of a fat guy ever in fan fiction.
Reason number 2, I liked the whole scenario with Hank and Larry King, that had me laughing. Just imagining Larry King's face nodding, and his eyes looking toward the blue fuzz ball that is Dr. Hank McCoy. I also enjoyed the phone calls from the viewers, it made the interview feel like it would if let's say, the X-Men were real.
Reason number 3, this whole idea of a Mutant Genome mapping Project is interesting, and I'm surprised it hadn't been done already somewhere on the Internet (at least not to my knowledge) or in the comics.
Reason number 4, watching Fatale and Post get handled like rag dolls by Rahne, and Kevin... Ah sweet nectar of the gods. These two characters have never been favorites of mine in their past uses in M2K, but as Cory has always tended to have a talent to do, he took the bad characters out with the trash. Maybe he can manage to make me like them more with the future stories but I don't know. We'll see.
Last, but not least: Point five, just altogether well written, no blaring spelling mistakes or grammar, which I unfortunately see daily in most of the fan fiction I read.
9 out of 10 but, and you're only gettin' the notch off cause it seemed a li'l' short, and to be fair, you got more 10 out of 10's from me then any other writer here in the past, so now that I'm back, I gotta make you earn it.
Hopin' to see more soon...
And until someone revives Chuck and he and Erik decide to play chess over a cup of tea in Timesquare, make mine M2K.
