You know, I always liked the way Gambit turned out at M2K, and I'm glad to see Ryan taking him back to his roots, per se.
The changes in Ryan's writing are evident as you read through this issue as his early days on the title were much less refined. Sentence structure, which had always been one of my own problems in writing, is something Ryan has become very good at. I was also impressed to see his insight in to Remy's mind, and his approach to the "relationship" between the Thieves and Assassins.
It was nice to see that Remy was eating himself up on the inside for signing his little contract with the Devil (Belladonna). One thing I hope to see more of is this inner fight Gambit seemed to work through from begining to end of the issue before finally going to meet Theresa's grandmother.
The interaction between his employer/Belladonna's victim's grandmother in the end left me with a smile. Remy didn't break down at tell this woman he was half the reason for her granddaughter's death, but he did try to make things right.
That alone is why Gambit is always one of my favorite Mutants, whether it be M2K or Canon Marvel.
Great job Ryan, 8.5 out of 10 Flappin' Mouf's. Keep it up, I'll be there for the ride.
Oh, and until all the supervillains Scourge killed in Tbolts come back from the dead for a rock band world tour, make mine M2K.
