The recent issue of USM (#7) was my final issue, and I've left the story as tidy as I could should anyone be interested in picking up the threads. Considering the nature of the series and the cast I'll be surprised if anyone *does* want to continue it, but if they do - and, obviously, you'll need to go through the normal channels with Dave and Josh to lay claim - then I'm more than happy to send on my plots for issues-never-now-to-be-written if the writer concerned is interested. Or you can go your own way.
NOTE: Even though a number of the characters in USM are my own creations/hybrids I'm not precious about them. If someone else takes the series they can do whatever they want with any of them as far as I'm concerned. That goes for use in other Ultimate titles too.
Similarly I've just sent in my last MTU issue, so after that gets posted this series will also be free. Again, it's up to Dave and Josh what they want to do with it, but as this is a continuity-free Alternate title it's a good stomping ground for anyone wanting to tell their own team-up tales.

I'm surprised more people haven't reacted to the news, Meri. Personally, I think you've made some incredible contributions to the Alternate Branch and both titles will be sorely missed. Despite being an X-Branch junkie (hey, I write the flagship title), I still think that Ultimate Spider-Man was probably one of my favorite titles at the site. Definitely in the top five.
What's the word on Ultimate Defenders, though? Or The Mysterious Spider-Woman, for that matter? Hopefully you'll continue to frequent the boards and occasionally contribute stories to the site.

Thanks for the kind words, Cory! I think USM is/was an odd duck of a book and I knew back when I wrote the first issue that having someone diffirent in the mask wouldn't be to many tastes. I can also understand no one being interested in continuing another writer's vision of an Ultimate title (because the whole point of an Ultimate line is to re-imagine a hero or team for yourself, not to take on someone else's version). I was just offering it up out of courtesy, really, and to make it known that I wasn't fussed about any of my characters being used in other Ultimate titles.
With regard to Defenders and Spider-Woman, I definitely want to finish off the first, even if it's piecemeal over the rest of the year. MSW won't happen though, I found it too time-consuming to write in that particular style. I think I've said to Dave and Josh that they can fold the two existing issues into Alternate Unlimited to cut down on the title page clutter if they wanted (or, if I didn't mention that to them, then I guess I am now, provided they're reading this...)
I always drift around the various message boards, offering reviews every now and then, so I'll definitely be here in spirit. And if I ever get the time to to get back into the swing of things, I've got a killer proposal for a Villains For Hire title for the Knights imprint just cooling its heels on my hard drive... ;D
Thanks again!

Hi...its been a while since I posted on these boards...like forever awhile.
Anyway, I for one found USM to be really refreshing and was really pleased with the new take on the series itself. It was decidedly more Ultimate than well...MUs Ultimate Spider-Man. The combo chars, and the new person behind the mask were fleshed out very well and felt new/unique. I definately agree with Cory as this was probably one of my favorite titles on the site as well. I'm hoping someone decides to pick this up and continues (hopefully with your plots) the title. I want to see where all this leads.
Anyway, I'm glad you are going to finish up the Defenders.

Thanks Kristi! I'm glad you enjoyed all the aspects of the series you mentioned. The spliced villains were my favourite characters along with Ash, and I've had good feedback in those areas so it's nice to know they worked. I read the first four or five years' worth of Bendis' Ultimate Spider-Man and also thought it nowhere near experimental enough, so that's something I dabbled in here. As far as the future is concerned... you could always take a stab at continuing the series if you wanted it, right?

Well Ms. Rai, I havn't had the pleasure to read any whole run of your's yet, but I've enjoyed the couple issues I've perused of USM, so I for one am sad to not see more issues from you. I know this post is late coming on the thread, but ah well.

Thank you! Psst. But I'm not a Ms. Or even a Miss. My lady wife would've said something by now. Probably. (My fault for having such a dopey, feminine sounding pen-name, I know.)

::Shrugs shoulders:: My bad for not asking someone what there sex is before making an exception.
I shoulda known that with the testosterone dominated M2K that if you were a female you'd have chosen a female avatar to rub us boys noses in it, heh.
Seriously though, I am sorry sir. Next time I'll be sure to check.

Maybe one day if no one else has then I would love to take a shot at continuing the series...also I fully agree that the MU's Ultimate Spider-Man title wasn't much into experimenting...finally started to awhile later in the series and now I heard they are going to be making someone else Spider-Man.
Also, I'm female but don't currently write at M2K, that count?

It counts Kristi. I was just pointing out that's it's not common for a female to come around M2K, just check out the message boards to see how few there are around this joint.
Nothin' against you, its just not the norm'.
