Bryan my friend, you have gained yourself a fan sir.
I'm still not sure what the hell is going on with the whole Layla Miller sittuation, but the girl seems to have started a running theme in issue 1 that's continued thus far involving "Giving the People what they want."
I like how you've worked Gambit in to the story, seemingly taking from Ryan's current run involving the Drug usage by members of the good ol' T'ieves guild. Atleast I think that's where you were going with Remy's meeting with Caliban in the sewers. One thing is for sure, I'll be here next issue to find out.
Piotr and Katya's meeting was as ever filled with awkwardness which brought a smile to my face. I mean really, you would think after being preagnant, an international super spy, and an agent of the Shadow King, Kitty wouldn't get so angsty around the giant Russian fluff ball(and I love Pete, but that's what he is and we all know it. Unless he's protecting someone or something important to him Colossus couldn't hurt a fly).
Vance's intro' to the story was awesome. I like the way you showed his past in the flash back, and the fact that Xavier had wanted nothing more then for Vance to be an X-Man. "When you're ready to be more then a hero..." That was an amazing touch, the New Warriors have always been more down to earth to me, like the X-Men, more street level then the Avengers or Champions, and you played that nicely here.
Rogue and Pete's cooperative holding up of the collapsing stage back drop, I swear that happened if not exactly a stage, some sort of building, in an episode of the old X-Men cartoon, or in an early Nineties issue of the comic. Correct me if I'm mistaken but it felt like Nostalgia at its best.
Now I don't know if its unnatural or natural, but the rage of the heavens themselves taking Warren out, that was a classic touch. Ironic that an Angel would be smote by a lance of light from heaven.
10 out of 10 Bryan. Feel lucky, you're up there with Brad, Dino, Cory, Russ Anderson, LGP, and recently our Mr. Jent amongst the ranks of the few and the proud to recieve a 10 Mouf award, with this little issue. No Pressure.
Can't wait to see where things are going with the team, and why Layla and Doop seem to be the only ones who know which way is up. Until you reveal that it was Storm who purposely offed Warren with a Lightning Bolt, make mine M2K.
