You said that your Red Hood story was for Villains Month. I pushed that to next month to give others a chance to get some stories in.

And we move into the New Releases Review section of the release. Having been to Comic Con as tired ecologist man, a week's holiday later I'm refreshed and rejuvenated ready to review. But arez the titles submitted dog tired or fighting fresh, let's find out...
Also beware massive spoilers for...Teen Titans #6
Action Comics #15 - Anyone who has ever read fairy tales will now that they are far darker then most people would imagine. Case in point the King of Fables and his diabolical plan to take over the world, one he seems to be getting away with as he clashes with the 'Super' family. It also turns out that Tobias Christopher writes heartbreak as well as he writes the family dynamic, with the former a really difficult thing to pull off in a sincere way. While we know that this story is continuing here's hoping that the Fable truly delivers the mystical payoff its promising.
Rating - 9/10 (Fighting Fit)
Batgirl #9 - Any we come to Batgirl, a title I love and adore thanks to the brilliant writing of Emma Woods. And as its an Emma Woods story we can tell that there is going to be hypercharge emotion, what with Anarchy's (?) descent into misery and the reaction of Stephanie to the massive foot she placed in her mouth while talking to Flamebird. Hopefully that relationship will be explored, but for now it looks like Batgirl has another problem on her hand, one I can't wait to see reach maturity. Kudos to Emma Wood for picking up said 'problem' and let's hope we see a killer story written about it.
Rating - 9.75/10 (Fighting Fit)
Batman #5 - So we move on from a Batgirl to a Batman, but quite honestly its the bickering doctors who really stole the show, particularly how Doctor Zodiac works as a brilliant straight man to Doctor No Face's 'comedian'. While we see Dave Golightly's expertise in writing a story this issue feels like a giant leap ahead of what we usually see, part of it being the brilliant character relationships and this Batman's first real fight against a dangerous villain (Mister Twister doesn't count). Hopefully the Doctor's will be in for a while as we continue enjoying this dark and twisted tale.
Rating - 9.75/10 (Fighting Fit)
New Gods #2 - My mother box died last night while writing #5 of Truth and Dare. All jokes aside Dan Dolan's 'Fish out of Water' tale of the New Gods on Earth continues to be well crafted, but more then that the writers love for the characters shines through. And while all the writers love their characters its clear that none love their brood more then Dan, and that makes me excited for where ever this series and anything else he's writing is heading. The cameo of Orion's helmet was also interesting, hopefully it will resolve the question we're all asking, where is he.
Rating - 9.5/10
Nightwing #1 - With the two bat titles being so well crafted it looked as if JD Mathis's new Bludhaven based series has an uphill battle. Spoilers, the series is at least 80% Ibex, able to scale anything brilliantly. With the past history nod, the resetting of Nightwing in 'his city' and a somewhat enigmatic killer's introduction not to mention a dark gritty feel to the tale, this story has something for everyone. It even didn't feel like an #1, almost as if it had been built on something already existing, hopefully the title will continue in this vein as Nightwing returns home.
Rating - 9.5/10 (Fighting Fit)
Teen Titans #6 - You were warned! Beast Boy is dead, it takes a writer with supreme confidence in their abilities to kill off (or remove) a character that is a lynch pin of a team book, but Patrick Moore is willing to take that step. As he settles into this title its clear that his level of comfort positively effects the quality of his grammar, something that has been a nitpick for me in the past. With Patrick now ascendant and a possible Deathstroke appearance on the cards, this title is shaping up to be one of the big names of DC 2000s summer releases.
Rating - 9/10 (Fighting Fit)

Thanks, Johnchesse. I like Teen Titans, and what is going to happen next is going to tear the team apart next issue with Titanfall. After the smoke clears, the Teen Titans will be shattered leading into a major change in the future of the series.

Thanks for the review. I'm hoping the conclusion delivers on the action, but I can say that things that happen in this arc (both on Lois and Clark's side of things) will have long reaching effects for the Family of Steel.

Quick Fire Thoughts!!
Spoilers Therein!!
Legion of Doom #8
Every time I don’t think Legion of Doom can up the ante, the next issue goes and does so! For all intents and purposes this issue is a full on throw down between the Legion and the League, almost from the very beginning to its end, with no quarter given nor asked for.
From my experience such large, multi person battles usually boil down a series of one of one fights to the point that it no longer feels like a group effort, which I’m glad to say isn’t the case here. This particular ruckus featuring a wide range of players with an equally wide variety of powers is as chaotic and unpredictable as it should be, with confrontations being interrupted and sparring partners exchanged as frequently as double teams enter the equation, forcing everyone involved to think on their feet. All of which, surprisingly enough given all the moving parts involved, remains relatively easy to follow.
Bonus points there.
For me personally, Mayfly proved to be the MVP following her disabling of several leaguers with a genius use of stolen property. Green Arrow may not be quite as appreciative.
While I still can’t guess how many issues this series is planned to run for, I can surmise (with my keen, detective skills), that there will still be at least one more issue, and given the climax of this one, I can only assume isn’t planning to slow down just yet...

At this point, I’m frankly terrified that I’m going to write an issue that you don’t enjoy. Hopefully I can keep the ball rolling, and you continue to enjoy the series as much as I enjoy writing it.
As always, *hugs* for the review, and I’m super glad that you enjoyed it, this issue was somewhat designed from the ground up to set several balls in motion, so I’m glad to hear that you’re looking forward to what’s coming, especially concerning a certain ‘big bad’ brought in from a Halloween special. XD
I’m not one hundred certain when exactly certain storylines will play out, but hopefully it will be worth the journey to it.
As it happens, the Batgirl/Flamebird scene was actually plotted to end completely differently to what ended up on the printed page, but while I was writing it, this felt like a far more natural conclusion to their exchange, short as it was.
What does this mean for their dynamic going forwards?
We’ll have to wait and see.
*nod*

A big thank you for the review, it's most appreciated. Large battles such as the one featured here are something I enjoy writing, especially ones with such variable power sets on show. Your detective work is right on point, there is at least one more issue already written. One with plenty of Mayfly, my second favourite character to write in this series, beaten only by Killer Croc. As for Batgirl...I wouldn't worry about disapointing us. Just write in your usual Emma way and nothing can go wrong...unlike the pollution tests on this potentiality mutagenic clay I'm running. #newclayface?

Here's some reviews!!! Tobias' Action Comics: Loved it, as I LOVE the Queen of Fables her brother is no different in that regard. I'm very curious about what powers the other boys have and if any of them are characters we'd already know. Also though it seems all their souls have been swapped, even the character of Tommy is having some regrets over this plan. As for the King's endgame... well the Legion of Doom may have beaten him to it, lol. Great job!! Emma's Batgirl: Always a great read, the character of Stephanie is so well honed and understood here. This issue felt like a first step into a great new mystery/plot and it looks like it will be a lot of fun. While i have my theories on who the mysterious girl really is, for the time being Killer Moth is just as great a threat to throw at the girl in purple Great work all around. Dave's Batman: This was amazing. The tone was dark in such a great way, the noir/action was running high and I loved it. One thing I really loved above all was the expert use of obscure "d-list" villains. One of my FAVORITE things to do in fics and is done beautifully here! Other top honors go to the scenes with Catwoman and Robin, such a subversion of expectation when you have two anti-heroes playing off each other instead of one and one true hero, Selina herself sees why that is here and I'm sure she'll make Damian regret it. John's Legion of Doom: Wow! That was INTENSE. The battle was very well written and "choreographed". The twists however were beyond even that. I must say that I have reservations with the "big reveal" but I do applaud the risk it took to do it and am sure it will make more sense as we go forward. Saying that, I am very excited to see how it plays out and if there will even be a League left when it's over. JD's Nightwing: Was a lot of fun, I sometimes forget how many bat-family series we have here and I just marvel at how individual they all manage to feel regardless, lol (nevermind how they all navigate themselves around each other so seamlessly. Example being the real Alfred in Teen Titans with Tim and an Alfred 2.0 here with Dick, heh) Amy is a strong secondary protagonist and look forward to her meeting with NW, should be great back and forth. You kept the intrigue up without losing the fun, the Alfred AI I mentioned was an especially funny/cool moment Patrick's Teen Titans: A great little introspection on Beast Boy though I will say it seemed a little short. I'm eager to see where the series goes from here. You continue to blend in many other "versions" of this mythology such as the Animated Series and Elseworlds like X-Men/Titans and I'd say it's mostly coming together: I'd streamline it a tad more but all and all very fun and exciting! Can't wait for Titan Fall. John's Truth or Dare: Another example of my love of obscure characters! This one bastions one as the primary character no less! The mystery here is sublime and you really care about Dare's quest, the empathy is no less dulling or dulled by the brutality by which she goes about it. Can't wait to see more of her fiery rampage of revenge and what answers... or more questions... may be unearthed!

Thanks, Dan Dolan.
I like writing this series as I like Teen Titans after watching the original CN animated series and reading the comics. I know there are people who hate Teen Titans Go ans with the movie coming out in July there is rumors that we might get season 6 of the original if the movie does well.
As for Titanfall, the arc is not going to be another Civil War knock-off as i don't want to spoil what will happen in issue 7. I want to start writing early in the month to get the Gotham Academy backups started. As for the Wonder Twins backups, they will return....

I'm thinking of trying something different in ways of formatting for the next issue that would reflect Zodiac's abilities.

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. I thought that this story arc would be a tribute to all of those classic "we built a house full of traps" stories. I'm also having fun playing Robin off of Catwoman.
