I just thought I'd put this here as a conversation piece. The Titans trailer was released and I actually think it looks pretty good. Is it light, fluffy and comedic like Teen Titans Go? Definitely not. One thing I have noticed is a lot of the fans complaining about the darker, edginess of the series. I honestly think it's a ridiculous criticism. The Teen Titans had many dark and violent storylines before the animated show infantilised them, and this is the tone the DC Cinematic Universe (and most of its shows) have veered towards. The darkness shouldn't be a surprise. Brenton Thwaite seems like a good choice for Dick, smouldering and antagonistic. Hawk and Dove look like competent allies to have so I'm excited for them. I'm not incredibly sold on the rest of the cast, particularly Anna Diop as Starfire. I know a lot of flack has been pushed towards her race but, honestly, as an orange alien princess, I'm not sure the race of the actress should ever have mattered. I just feel that she looks a bit like a bad cosplay. On the other hand, Raven and Beast Boy are at least aesthetically appealing. But yeah, that's kind of my two cents.

Well, you're getting live action Dick Grayson with Jason Todd's personality.

They lost me when the heart & soul of the DCU started flat out murdering thugs and dropping the f-bomb.

That was the problem with Chris O'Donald's version of Dick Grayson/Robin in Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, as he was more of a stubborn child than in the comics. In Forever he set his sights to get revenge on Two-Face for killing his family, which he didn't have a brother and it was Tony Zucco who killed his parents in the comics. As in Batman and Robin, he became more hardheaded and bratty until the final battle with Mr. Freeze.
I like to say that this more darker version of Titans got me hooked, as it might get me some future ideas for my Teen Titans series.

I agree with Dave on this one. I've been reading Dick Grayson from his time as Robin to Nightwing, to Batman and back to Nightwing. Even in the Teen Titans, Justice League and Titans he has never and would never take down criminals by stabbing and maiming them. The character seems like he is more Jason Todd than Dick Grayson.
When it comes to Batman and movies if you mention Batman Forever and Batman and Robin you will have lost my attention. To me, those two movies do not exist. Lol.

Shame, as everyone looks right, but the whole 'dark and gritty' leaves me cold and uninterested. Turning the entire DCU into the Nolan movies didn't work for JL, why did they think it would work for Titans.
I'll stick with the CW shows.

I really wanted to give it a fair shake... I REALLY did. But yeah, I'm leaning towards taking a pass.
Superhero movies are probably the biggest money maker in hollywood right now, why do they throw such low budgets at the TV versions?
Starfire looked only slightly better than I feared, Raven's effects were okay but her actress looks, sounds and acts like a disney channel tween star, Beast boy... yeah... and frankly the worst part for me was Robin.
That line? Not only was awful but so forced. You could just picture a team of execs and writers sitting around the first viewing on the edge of their seats about how scandalous they were "oooh he's gonna say it... aaaaand he said it. We're so hip!"
The only thing I'm really happy about is Hawk and Dove... that's kind of sad when you have Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy and Raven in a trailer and that's coming from someone who LIKES Hawk and Dove!

I liked Hawk and Dove right up until the point where the 'avatar of peace' cuts a bloody gouge out of some guys leg with her wing.
If that's the peaceful one, what is Hawk, the violent one, going to be like...?

THANK YOU TRAVIS! The Dick Grayson stuff annoyed me but Dove's whole schtick is finding non-violent solutions to problems and they have her stabbing people like everyone else in the group. This doesn't feel like the Titans to me at all. Also, Starfire looks like a Macklemore cosplayer with the fur coat.

Mark Waid said it best when he saw Superman snap General Zod's neck..."I'm Done." The Teen Titans are suppose to be heroes not The Punisher, or Deadpool, or any other anti-hero who see fit to either brutal hurt or kill their foes. Note this is only a trailer, and let's hope the other trailers will to better.

Dc unfortunately is stuck in full Nolan/Snyder mode and aside from the CW shows ( well, not Arrow) don't get that that formula is not working for them. Making everybody Batman does not work. They can barely do it with Batman.

When I saw that there was going to be a Batwoman show coming up, it made me recall when Arrow first launched. I was really interested until I realized that they were just doing Batman with a bow. Why do they keep producing things that characterize other characters as Batman? For Titans, why even call out Batman at all? It's like they want to dance around Batman and point at him with every hand available, but they don't want to actually show him.
Why not just put all that effort and money into an awesome Batman show?

Why not just put all that effort and money into an awesome Batman show? Apparently it's because of the DCEU. I read somewhere once that when the DCEU decides to utilise a character, they're harder to keep or secure for shows like the CW's. Deathstroke and the Suicide Squad both got pulled from Arrow. Cyborg isn't amongst the Titans, although he's rumoured to be the instigator behind their gathering. Only Barry Allen has seemingly survived, probably due to the popularity of the Flash. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if this is the last season of Arrow where the Black Canary (any interation of her) appears now that Dinah is apparently to appear in Birds of Prey.
