So, people are throwing a hissy fit because Starfire is played by a black actress...?
Yeah, orange characters should only be played by orange actors!
Never a meteor that wipes out civilization around when you want one...

So, people are throwing a hissy fit because Starfire is played by a black actress...? Yeah, orange characters should only be played by orange actors! Never a meteor that wipes out civilization around when you want one... That argument is idiotic. People are complaining for no reason, as long as the actress is a good actress then it's not an issue. However, I think the issue is that she's only orange when using her powers. It's a distinctive trademark of the character. Hire a talented black actress go for it, but make her orange. Apparently, Beast Boy is only green when using his power too. The racial identity of the actors playing Starfire and Beast Boy don't matter because they're an odd colour, it doesn't and shouldn't matter whose underneath the paint. Raven's technically grey sometimes but I think it'd be kind of problematic to hire a black actress and then paint her off-white, so keeping her white was a good shout. I sort of like the grittiness of the show but it seems like it's going to be a bit too much. And for God's sake, can Kori get rid of her pimp fur?

They only change color when they use their powers...? Okay, now it's stupid and I can support some complaining, but that's not the actresses fault, that's just bad writing.

Yeah. That's bad writing. However, the majority of the complaints are that Anna Diop, as a black woman, is playing Koriand'r. It's racist and it's sexist because no one has complained that Ryan Potter is playing Beast Boy and he's half-Japanese and looks Japanese. I don't think it should matter whose under the make-up because, at the end of the day, Kori's orange and Gar's green. As it stands, I think they should be those colours, but I also have no problem with Kori being black or Gar being half-Japanese. Both characters came from a time when there was a lack of diversity, and the world can always use more diverse cultural depictions because it might educate some people.

I got two words for these idiots....SHUT UP!!!
Movies goers who saw Sam Jackson as Nick Fury at the end of the first Iron Man film cheered after they saw him in the Ultimates comic. I would even seen a black version of Robin that never happened in the first Batman film. Even in the new TMNT cartoon, we got a black version of April and still is a kid from her 2012 counterpart. This goes for the same with the all female Ghostbusters reboot that failed due to the bashing of the film, since there where female Ghostbusters in both Real and Extreme animated series. To all you jerks you don't like change to characters on TV based off comics then don't watch the show.

Did they also hate that Gamora, a green lady, is played by a black actress?

Personally, I don't need the need to racebend a Robin. He's relatively new as is the Signal identity, if they wanted an African American Robin, then I say just use Duke Thomas and make him one. It doesn't always have to be Dick, Tim, Jason or Damian. Although, I'm not sure if the black Robin works. Unless there are several other strong African American characters, it seems a bit off to have that only representation be the sidekick to a rich, white man.
Nick Fury never bothered me. I vaguely knew he was a white man but I think the first comic I read with him in it was from the Ultimate line, so his race never really mattered to me. I just wish they'd chosen a better actor. I can't stand Samuel L. Jackson. He doesn't act, he walks onto set and plays himself. Almost every character is exactly the same. Maybe with the exception of Baron in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (even then, I'd say it was a stretch to call it acting). There are so many talented actors in the world and we're stuck with Samuel L. Jackson. I'm actually hoping Avengers 4 serves as a swan song for Fury just so I don't have to watch him chew his way to the scenery anymore.
It's honestly my opinion that very few characters are required to be a particular race. Comics is a medium that requires they be shown as one race or the other because it's artistic but reading a book, or writing my own creations, I don't think it's important. I'm highly descriptive so they have races identified but if I was ever fortunate enough to get something turned from my books into a movie or television series, 9/10 I'd say just do colour blind casting. Best person for the role.

What about gender bend a Robin? As Stephanie Brown and Carrie Kelly were the only females to be Robin. I like to see a female Robin in DC2K, but I have big plans for that in the future.

Again, wouldn't care. I like Stephanie but prefer her as Batgirl or Spoiler. In terms of DC2K, as long as two or three people aren't running around as Robin then it doesn't matter which one or what gender. At the end of the day, Robin's primary function is to be a sidekick and trainee of Batman. Yes, they have their own adventures but their primarily a sidekick. Which is why they take on their own identities when they progress. In that regard, I believe as long as the characters filling that function, it doesn't matter who it is. If they aren't filling that function, they aren't Robin.

Having now watched the first episode, I can say it's enjoyable. It's a bit grim (and gratuitously violent) at some points and not usual Titans fare but it was a decent watch.
Ironically, given all the hate she received, Anna Diop was the strongest actor in the cast. Even if Starfire's characterisation is a bit of a mess.

I'm sorely tempted to pitch a Batman Beyond story at some point with the brother team of Terry and Matt having an adventure. Maybe sometime in 2019 when I have all my other titles caught up to where I can focus on doing a mini or one-shot I'll write up a pitch.

What is wrong with a female Robin? I would love to see a female Robin again in the Batman Family proving that Robin can't be just a male persona. There is one time I wanted Max from Batman Beyond to be Robin since she knew the secret.

No one said there's anything wrong with a female Robin, but the criteria actually should be that anyone with the Robin mantle should be Batman's sidekick. If Max were to be a Robin, then she'd be Terry's partner/trainee, which would be fine. If there were a Robin in the current day of DC2K, then she should be Batman's partner like Steph and Carrie were. And while there could be a female Robin down the road (that's totally up to Dave if he wants to switch Damien out) the current Robins are Damien (in the Batman title) and Matt (in Batman Beyond/the current Sideways backups in Action).
I have nothing against a female Robin, but we already have two (if you count Red Robin) in the current timeline and one in the far future.
I mean, that's why Bart isn't going by Impulse anymore and Connor isn't Superboy, they passed their mantles on and will get new mantles once they get their powers back soon. Two Superboys and two Impulses gets confusing, especially in prose.
