Dave and I have talked it over, and pending Daniel's approval (haha, he may not even care), we've decided that AMALGAM REVISITED will launch in early January. Should be a fun little way to kick off the new year, no? We think so.
The rules are pretty simple. You pick a character (or characters) that you want to write about, let us know who they are and around the time that we can expect your issue, and then get to writing! The story that you submit can be in various formats, but we prefer either one shots from about 8 to 20 pages long, or serial collections written by multiple writers made up of no more than three stories, with each story being from about 5 to 10 pages. We're okay with two part stories, but we want both issues submitted to us at the same time so that we can release them back to back without holding up other stories. I'd personally prefer everyone to write one-shots 8 to 20 pages long, but we're totally flexible with the serial collection style and the two-parters.
On that note, the issues for this anthology will be released on a "first submitted, first released" basis, meaning that there's no set schedule for who needs to release what. You submit your issue, we release it when there's an opening, and it's as simple as that. When it comes to characters, at the moment we only want one story per character, but as the anthology goes on we're pretty open minded to the idea of a new writer tackling a character that's already had a story written about them - just not right now. We'll consider it after the anthology has written around six issues or more and seems to be maintaining its momentum. We can't have our first six issues be completely about Speed Demon or Spider-Boy with no variety, especially if this anthology is limited, now can we?
As for multiple stories, a writer will be able to dib a second character (or set of characters) to write about after their first story is complete and submitted, but you can't dib multiple characters for multiple stories until you've completed your first story. This keeps things from getting out of control. At the moment, the following characters are dibbed by the following writers, in order of when they were dibbed:
Spider-Boy and Insect Queen - Cory Wiegel
Speed Demon - David Golightly
Catsai - Meriades Rai
X-Patrol - Tony Thornley
Challengers Of The Fantastic or Iron Lantern - Barry Reese (be sure to get back to us soon!)
Dark Claw/Super Soldier - Bowie Sessions
Dr. Strangefate, White Witch, and possibly Skulk - Alan Strauss
Mike Hintze and David Ellis have some plans, as well, but at the moment I don't have any dibs available for them. Keep an eye on this thread for updates, though. I think that pretty much settles the basic requirements, though. If you guys have any specific questions, just post them here and we'll get the Q&A rolling. Nothing left to do now but to get writing! Thank you everyone for your interest in this anthology and we hope to be reading your stories soon.
