I don't know about DC, but for Marvel I'd like to write pretty much anything Spider-Man related.

Shales plug: I posted my story to kindle worlds and have actually sold a couple copies, as ninety cents worth of royalties came pouring in this weekend! Drinks are on me!
Course, it's going to have to be one bottle of Crystal Pepsi...but, everyone is welcome to a sip.
Now, once I catch up on my M2K stuff, I'm going to try for a novella.

I might start on My Faith/Harbinger story this weekend.

I did a story for the Kurt Vonnegut world, a mini-sequel to 'Sirens of Titan'.
Next, I want to do a GI Joe novella.
I'd like to do something with the Valiant stuff too. Either Eternal Warrior or Archer and Armstrong.

Between DC's Young Animals and IDW's Hasbro-verse, I'm fascinated with the idea of building a little universe of some kind.
I know it's completely impractical and unrealistic, but every time I see some property or franchise that I like, my brain goes in that direction.
Is it just me? Is there a support group for this kind of addiction?

Marvel did this when they had the Transformers title. Remember the famous Spider-Man in black costume fighting Megatron on the cover? Now that IDW bought the rights to Transformers, they reprinted the Marvel comic series, but didn't print the issues with any Marvel characters in them like Spidey, Nick Fury, and Circuit Breaker who was a Marvel made character created for the Marvel series. Circuit Breaker could be used here at M2K since she is a Marvel character, but no nods to the Transformers.

I've decided to play around in the Supernatural universe and expand it through one-shots, mini-series, and an ongoing title.

I'll admit that the Kindle Worlds have gotten me interested. When I saw that there was a John Rain one I nearly fell out of my chair. Love those books.

So, picked up a big stack of comics at a con...for research purposes obviously...lord, Dan Ketch's GR series was unrelentingly grim and unfun! Though, after reading the couple Silver Surfer back issues I want to write Jack of Hearts.

Though, after reading the couple Silver Surfer back issues I want to write Jack of Hearts. I just don't get Jack of Hearts. He's one of those cult favorites. Maybe it's his silly costume, maybe it's his really bizarre back story. It would take a lot for me to become a fan of this character.

"Research purposes." Oh, of course. Nothing wrong with that, Travis. :-P
Ketch's GR bike IS da bomb, Dave. With a flaming battering ram in front...
Unrelenting grim and dark? What do you mean? It took seven whole issues for his sister to bite the bullet. Then another fifty for him to die himself. What's so grim about that?
Plus, the artwork is super fun and light-hearted and happy! Texiera and Saltares only draw happy things.
(I apologize. My sarcasm meter broke a couple paragraphs back...)

So, picked up a big stack of comics at a con...for research purposes obviously...lord, Dan Ketch's GR series was unrelentingly grim and unfun! You shut your mouth. '90s Ghost Rider was the best. His powers, the chain, a wonderful sense of mystery, and easily one of the best Rogue's Gallery of any new hero from that decade. Snowblind, Blackout, Zodiac, Suicide, Deathwatch, Heart Attack, The Corporation, Lilith and the Lilin, and while he wasn't new the absolute best take on Scarecrow I have ever seen. Then Johnny Blaze showed up and we got all those great takeaways from the old series, culminating in a great villain return. Sadly, things went off the rails, I want to say it was the Midnight Sons crossover. Things should have stopped with Danny's death (not the first one, the second time). Things just went from bad to worse with Vengeance taking over, Johnny losing his happy ending, whatever that battle for Hell was supposed to be. The first 30 or so issues though, and that Spirits of Vengeance spin-off, were absolute gold.

Oh no! Have I started a flame war ( feeble pun intended) over Ghost Rider?
Sorry, but Dan Ketch is just too 90's for me and while I have gotten a hook that made him into a character I was interested in writing, I just feel no great urge to run out and get more back issues. Researching the other three GRs was fun. Doing it for Dan was a bit of a chore.
In lighter, hopefully less controversial news: finally got to watch ' DC Legends of Tomorrow' and I now want to write a story featuring the comic book versions of that line up.! Great show. Lots of fun.

Here's the thing with the CW-verse: after the first season of Arrow the shows became way too formulaic. At the start, Arrow was fairly mysterious and the viewers didn't know exactly where the show was headed. What made Ollie into a killer vigilante? He's like a force of nature; can anyone actually stop this guy? Can we trust this man who was stranded five years ago but somehow learned Russian, became an expert marksman, and now has a secret agenda for returning to his city?
Given its popularity and the spinoffs, it's become much more lighthearted. The Flash, Supergirl, and now Legends of Tomorrow are fun to watch, but pretty much watered down versions of the source material. The upcoming season of Arrow seems to take a slightly darker turn, perhaps getting back to that original intrigue, so maybe that's set to change...but given the success/marketability, I doubt it.
