The weird thing about that show is that Batman's cousin Van Wayne is the owner. I'll pretend the writers of Powerless know about Philip Wayne and that Van is his son. I'll also forgive any criticisms I may have about the show if the final episode guest-stars Ben Affleck screaming for them to run because Kryptonians are fighting.

The trailer for 'Powerless' was pretty painful. Really clunky and unfunny. Despite a good cast, I'm not feeling too optimistic about this one.
I was hoping for something like 'Eureka' and this looks like watered-down 'Office'.

I’ve been thinking about Kirby and the new gods since I made reference to them before and have been reading through some of his stories. He obviously did it in very broad strokes but wow there are some intriguing concepts in there that totally apply to the 21st century….so I’ve thought about what I’d want to see in a reboot.
New Gods the Fifth World The New Gods reborn (hence the 5th world), much of it still stays the same Darkseid Vs New Genesis, Earth gets dragged into the whole thing:
Darkseid: The fascist God seeking to control the lives of everyone. Stamp out uniqueness all because he believes that it is his rightful role. He plans to do this through bringing about pain and misery to humans in anyway he can in order to bring about their realisation of the anti-life equation which he is certain is stored in our minds. Everything he does is to either 1) defeat High Father or 2) Bring about misery on Earth. Terrorism, plague, high house prices, racism and whatever Darkseid is behind it.
The Highfather: Think the hippy alternative to Darkseid. I always find the likes of him and Odin etc very interesting because despite being set up as the antithesis of the villain they are in many ways equally as controlling etc Admittedly he is one of the less fleshed out in how he’d be updated. I can’t shake the feeling of Jeremy Corbyn/Bernie Sanders being in power and then having to fight a war on several fronts going against his own better nature and be ruthless (which he is clearly incapable of being). I also almost think of him as Walter White when he was starting to become Heisenberg.
Orion & Mr Miracle: Two sides of the same coin, the nature Vs nurture argument represented in human form. One snatched from hell and deposited in heaven and vice versa. They’re like child soldiers who have grown up and they’re trying to deal with it all. Despite neither of them being to blame they have a passionate hate for each other. Orion is like a drug addict or alcoholic where violence is his drug. He has to fight everyday to keep his demons in check. Mr Miracle is a clear PTSD case. He views his entire purpose in life as helping people escape, cast off whatever is keeping them in place whether it is an abusive relationship, an unfair system, their own insecurities etc. He’s like a catalyst trying to help people develop and change.
Mr Miracle & Big Barda: Big Barda is one of those who Mr Miracle is helping to escape. She’s on much the same character journey that Orion is on and he’s trying to help her become someone new. She is also helping bring about the security he needs to be himself and not always guarded.
Desaad: God of Misery/torture. Darkseid’s right hand man and his main weapon. The architect of most of his plans a constant social climber. On Apokolips he is a literal god of torture whilst on earth he is the main actor in most of the plans of Darkseid. Patron saint of stalkers, bullies, horrible bosses and hatever else tortures people
Metron: God of science and knowledge (but not wisdom) the constant watcher and observer. He works with both Highfather and Darkseid in his quest to know more about the universe. Manipulative, cold and uncaring but is often involved in the majority of goings ons in the war.
Granny Goodness: The cold ‘wire mother’ from Harlow giving no love and affection but a hope for survival. She runs orphanages both on Apokolips and on Earth shaping the people in her ‘care’ into weapons in one way or another.
Motherboxes: Think I-Phone crossed with heroin. They are everything you want, loving, nurturing, caring and personal to each individual. People become more and more absorbed with them the more they use them.
Kalibak: Darkseid’s weapon. He is the tank whose only desire is to destroy everything. The rampaging, raping destroyer. Darkseid doesn’t fight, Kalibak does. He’s the one who will be tearing through the heroes whenever given the chance.
Glorious Godfrey: The god of propaganda. He runs earths media…both sides liberal and conservative. In the era of fake news he is the source of it all. Two faced, manipulating, controlling and corrupting.
The Tomorrow People: The first iteration of the next generation of new gods who are likely to truly bring about a new world. They are total freedom- genderless…or gender changing, accepting of all lives, drug taking living to excess and trying to bring about their own brand of nirvana on Earth.
Lightray, Black Racer etc- I’ve not figured out how they fit into the whole pantheon yet.
I have of course no idea how all this would tie together into a plot or anything

Jimmy Olson ties it all together. The pal of Superman, a human ambassador for everything weird, catches a glimpse of this shadow war on Earth and investigates to bring it to the surface. There's a reason this was the fourth title in Jack Kirby's Fourth World Saga.

After reading Warren Ellis' Wildstorm, I know want a Wildstorm imprint. Much as I rag on Image comics, you forget there was some solid ideas and characters there.
Only problem is I'd want to dib everybody.

The difference between a good idea and a bad idea is in the execution.
I is a mother now, so I is wise.

Very true. and early Image comics is the golden example of 'good ideas, bad execution'.

GOOD IDEA: Mr. Skull head wants to dib everyone for Wildstorm imprint.
BAD IDEA: Mr. Skull Head gets beaten up by every Wildstorm character for not sharing with everyone else, and Freakazoid makes a cameo.

Speaking of... DC characters taking on Looney Tunes villains, plus Road Runner isn't a villain. All I want to know is will this finally get Superman Meets Bugs Bunny TPB? Yes, that crossover did exist, next to Archie V Predator and Teen Tians/ X-Men. Now all we need is a Scooby-Doo/DCAU Batman crossover and I'll be happy.

Nothing like a good Animaniacs reference to show me the error of my greedy ways...I will share, if I gotta.
If you looking for good crossovers, you should check out 'Scooby-Doo Team-up', it features all sorts of DC and Hanna-barbera characters, nice use of continuity and a sharp sense of humor. One of the best things DC is putting out.

That's the problem with that series sometimes. In the Johnny Quest story, I would liked of seen Jessie Bannon from Real Adventures to show up. They never thought of bringing her back in the other incarnations like Spy Quest and the Future Quest comic since she is part of JQ timeline. Another thing I like Scooby Team-up to finally do is crossovers with the Cartoon Network characters like The Original Powerpuff Girls, Ben 10, Billy and Mandy, Kids Next Door, and of course Johnny Bravo. And don't forget Beetlejuice, Captain Planet, and the Looney Tunes. You're welcome for the Animaniacs nod, Travis, I just want maybe DC need to bring back more kids comics than just LT and Scooby.

I have high hopes that FutureQuest will lead to more HB titles. Or maybe DC2K will get a HB imprint....
I never got into 'Real Adventures', did we ever find out who Jessie's mom was?

I always thought about doing a title where several children of HB characters grew up to form an adventure team. Johnny Quest grows up to be the bodyguard of HB's Richie Rich, with a grown Fantastic Max as his pilot with a few others, where the group seeks out treasures around the HBverse.

I have high hopes that FutureQuest will lead to more HB titles. Or maybe DC2K will get a HB imprint.... I never got into 'Real Adventures', did we ever find out who Jessie's mom was? There was two theories; In the Telefilm "Golden Quest," Jessie is Jezebel Jade's daughter, and in Real Adventures her mom is Estelle, a woman created for the series who was Race's ex-wife. She only appeared in two episodes.
I would love to do a series where Johnny Quest is more older and Jessie is part of the family in the pulp style mixing in the action and mystery of the original and Real Adventures. The 80's return was so short lived with the rock warrior as a member of the team didn't fit with me.
For Captain Planet, I get rid of the puns and have the Planeteers be more interactive to help Cap, and the villains would be more threating that just Batman 66' style baddies.
