SPECTRE
Jim Corrigan follows an unknown calling that takes him from place to place, never setting foot in one town for too long. He doesn't know why, but he knows he has to go across America, if not the planet to find the answer he does not know the question to.
Jim Corrigan is an amnesiac. He does not know anything from his past. All he knows is that his name is James Corrigan. A fact that people do not know, Jim sometimes also sees dead people. He talks to them. Interacts with them. Will even live through the era of the age of the spirit. He will sometimes black out with memory in the series in the "real world" awaking in situations he does not want to be in. One issue he could be in some town in Iowa, and the next he will be in a straight jacket in a psycho ward, or on some cargo ship to Italy.
In the series though, even though Jim looks like a man in his early 40s, some serious doubt appears with his actual age with former WW2 survivors and pictures from the Revolutionary War. Jim does not know that he has been walking the Earth for a long time and inflicting God's vengeance upon the planet. I envision as it as a combo of Bill Bixby Hulk, Quantum Leap, and Sixth Sense.
The Spectre spirit acts totally different than Jim Corrigan. While Jim is hardened yet seeking answers, the Spectre spirit is very calculating and judgmental yet apparently knowing the mission in which Jim does not. I envision the series to be more horror than magic, so the Spectre would resemble more like his Prime Earth powers: invisibility, intangibility, telepathy. I'm not saying the Spectre cant open a can of whoop @$$ as the series progresses, but I think the feel of this dark, eerie series would be less superhero saves the day and more a reflection of the mind of people and their dark fantasies: Walking Dead, Criminal Minds. Example, instead of Spectre just lobotomizing a "sinner" he would manipulate the area so the bad guy feels insane or depressed and fate just happens to kill the person by driving off the road, or jumping from a tall building.
How does this fit in DC2K since the starting point is "Rebirth?"
I think quite easily. Was Jim Corrigan a police officer? Yes, but DC2K would expand the history of Jim Corrigan, making him a cross between the Highlander and Ghost Rider and discovering more about Jim Corrigan.

I personally used Continuity as I see fit. Rebirth doesn't even matter to me all that much, just tell good stories. The Timmverse and Young Justice is a good example of this. If you need a good place to look up character history and chronology, use this website. Though I would recommend moving the dates up, since the site lucky stopped updated in 2010. dcu.smartmemes.com/index.html

what did you think of the Spectre idea though?
You know Rebirth is Dr Manhattan syncing 10 years away from memory into one after Flashpoint, right? Like I know its pre52 Superman. Nu52 Flash. (it gets complicated with Flash) but its easy for fanfic writers to write Rebirth actually. The inevitability of someone picking up the Watchmen series or making it an event here in DC2K is bound to happen, depending on how you see Dr Manhattan: a disconnected god on the evil or good side

I liked it. Ever since I saw that DC animated short that was set in the 70's, I found the character to be an engaging character.

I was also basing the series off that and expanding it in my own way yet still easily keeping Rebirth connection. (which is easy since Corrigan barely showed in Nu52)

WILD DOG:
Years ago DC created their own version of The Punisher called Wild Dog, a man who fought crime like Frank, after his girlfriend was killed by rival mobsters. Strange thing is his girl was the daughter of a mob boss, and this gave Jack Wheeler vengeance on all crime and terrorism as the Wild Dog.
Sure he looked like a gun totting hockey fan in the comics, and since he made his comeback in the CW reboot of The Flash, maybe it's time to bring him here.
If readers want to see a modern take on this obscure character then we get rid of the hockey outfit and give him a Sam Fisher with Jason X mask outfit, and make him a urban legend outside the world of superheroes and villains. It's like how Marvel has been pulling Punisher in and out of the superhero world when they made the MAX imprint.
Maybe he'll take on crimelords like Tobias Whale, I haven't heard of him until Beware The Batman.

Young Justice:
With Damien Wayne, Jon Kent, and (possibly) Iris West running around the current day DCU, you have the new Robin, Superboy and Impulse just waiting to get together to form the new Young Justice. Whoever writes this should keep it fun and lighthearted like Peter David's run.
They could toss stuff at them that the JLA and Titans don't want o waste their time on, the basic street level threats. YJ would be the perfect place for next generation to get together to know each other before graduating to the Titans/JLA.

I like to see a mix of the animated series in there as well, now that we are finally getting a third season. Maybe add Black Manta's son as the new Aqualad on the team.

Wild Dog just showed up in the new Cave Carson series.
I think I still have his original mini in a box somewhere. Be cool to see him interact a tiny bit with the DCU. I like his homemade look and the idea of someone so grounded in real world weapons/gadgets going up against a super villain.

Would love to see DC's historical characters get a little love and attention.
Am hoping to do something with a few of them for the anthology, but be cool if guys like Viking Prince or Anthro got time in the spotlight. DC has so many cool historical characters that are just gathering dust.

DC just announced a Hanna-barbera/DC crossover and from the sound of how badly they are going to botch it, I think we need a HB imprint.
Grim and gritty Wacky Racers? Modern twist on Top Cat? Southern gothic Snagglepuss?
Makes me want to slap somebody.

I have to agree with Travis, I like Future Quest, Scooby, and the new version of The Flintstones, but The Whacky Raceland title just ended as a mini and I didn't like the concept of another Mad Max type series.
If DC is going to do Modern versions of H-B properties done right, maybe do a dark and comedic version of Blue Falcon and Dynomutt with Blue Falcon as the Batman like hero and Dynomutt as the comedic side to BF's darker half.
I've been planning on a reboot of Hong Kong Phooey, but in the style of TMNT. Rose Marie would be more of the April O'Neil and the only one who knows of HKP existence, she is also linked with the police force with her mother being captain.
If DC ever gets the chance to do a reboot of Captain Planet, give the big guy some weapons or fighting styles, than just puns. Trust me we don't need anymore puns in a rebooted Captain Planet.

I've always found DC a bit harder to write than marvel and I've never fully been able to put my finger on it. Some general things I'd like to see:
1) A great Superman. One which doesn't try to make him less super to tell a story, one of those which really examines him i.e. not one where he just punches something, or smashes through. I like when they really put something to Superman- yeah you can save people but what are you going to do when we've staged 7 different disasters all in different locations which all happen at the same time and you can only stop a few etc
2) Random little anthology stories:
Elongated Man mysteries
Doctor 13 taking down mystic threats with science as he the explains away what the 'ghost' really was
Historical stories- DC does 'past heroes' so much stronger than Marvel in my opinion
I'd like to pull a reboot/reset on all the new Gods lore- take everyone from Mr Miracle through to Darkseid (maybe use Jimmy Olsen as the POV human) and reset the whole thing. Who are the New Gods- I'd go for a classic where they're all on Earth under new identities and one of them wakes up (Mr Miracle/Orion) and they have to uncover the truth....once thats done its back to the 4th world to rebuild their place in the universe in the finest space opera/game of thrones style.
Oh it'd be fun given that the Squadron Supreme seems to do better at Marvel if we used some of the representations of Marvel characters in the DC universe and throw them into some DC action e.g. Captain Steele for Captain America, Merlyn the 'reformed' archer criminal for Hawkeye etc

You know what we need? Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew! I like to see some humor titles like Plastic Man or Harley Quinn that are less action packed and more comedic. And maybe one day we might get Deathstroke V. Deadpool V. Redtool in the not too far future.

I also think it would be great to see:
1) A 'Planetary' type book looking and revitalising all of the old stuff that DC did. Like bringing Kirby's creations into a more modern setting
2) Take the Exiles concept from Marvel (similar to Booster Gold really) and put it in DC with htem dimension hopping around. What would be interesting is since DC has a more 'established' multi-verse the stakes would actually matter
