With Xavier's Academy seemingly wrapped for the time being the Alternate branch has become barren! In an attempt to stir up some interest in reviving this branch of M2K, I decided to start a thread where we can collectively get our brains working on ideas for titles. Remember, the skies the limit in Alternate, nothing is unthinkable.
I long had the idea of doing a Marvel reboot in the vein of New Universe or that old show, Heroes (New Universe was better so let's focus on that.) One day, suddenly, a certain portion of the populace is given powers and must decide how they are going to use them. Imagine how scary this must be to the regular folks still left, how badly does that first day go for people like Hulk or Cyclops? Who is going to try and keep track of all these superhumans? Those questions and more could be a lot of fun to dive into.
I also really enjoy the idea of taking heroes or teams and putting them in new settings. The X-Men as a Star Trek like group of explorers in far-off space. The Avengers as a team of Old West sheriffs taking on bandits and robbers. Iron Man as a 1930s-40s Howard Huges-type inventor. Marc Spector as a noir detective trying to keep a grip of his sanity while solving a grisly murder.

Some really cool ideas there! I think it would be fun to see what would happen if established characters received their powers/abilities at different stages of their lives. Peter Parker was bitten when he was a hormone-crazed teenager. What if he had been bitten when he was in his forties, after he had been through a divorce and had two kids? Would he still have his fun-loving personality, or would these spectacular new powers give him a new purpose in life? What if the mutant gene didn't emerge during puberty, but rather in your golden years?
I'd also always thought that seeing what the Marvel universe was like with just a single public hero would be interesting. Say that Captain America wins the war for us, but doesn't get frozen, and he's pretty much the only public hero in existence for decades. No Avengers, Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, etc. How heavy would that weight be to bear?

I was a fan of marvels short lived 'noir' imprint and have some notes about putting marvel characters in 30's pulp/detective settings.
or doing something like Marvel 1602 and moving the marvel universe lock, stock and barrel to a different era of history.

I do have an old alternate X-Men series that I wrote YEARS ago that I was able to recover not long ago. Maybe a spit and a polish...

I love noir and 30s pulp stuff, it would be really fun to see characters in that setting. Clint Barton as a former criminal trying to stay on the straight and narrow. Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson as private eyes which stumble onto a big case against crime boss Wilson Fisk. Lots of fun stuff in that type of setting.

How about a story where the Fantastic 4 and the Power Pack's origins were switched? The F4 ended up receiving the alien powers, and the Powers siblings get bombarded with cosmic radiation and gain the F4's powers. (Julie invisibility, Katie the power to stretch, Alex the firepowers and Jack turns into the Thing).

Agatha Harkness and the Salem Seven Blade Druid Jennifer Kale Moon Knight The Nightshift Spirits of Vengeance Strange and Wiccan
Alas, T'Was not meant to be.

I think the only 'What if' back issues I held onto were the ones where the FF had different powers. Those were always a lot of fun.

Remove the sliding timescale. Peter Parter is now pushing 70 while a young Miles Morales is swinging around. Steve Rogers woke up in the 1960's, so when the Winter Soldier appears he's old but still in great shape due to the SS serum. Thor is of course still young, but when he becomes unworthy it is a very old Jane Foster who picks up the hammer. Every week, Kamala Khan visits the old-age home to listen to the stories of Carol Danvers. Gravity is now in his prime and the greatest hero of the day. Oh, and the Maestro has just emerged.

Or even shake up the entire MCU power-wise. With the F4/Power Pack switch comes Franklin Richards receiving Alpha's powers upon birth.
- Bobby Drake develops Storm's powers, making it harder to keep himself in the closet when it starts raining everytime he sees his crush out in public. - Scott and Alex summer get the powers of Cannonball & Icarus. - Artie is the Juggernaut. - Storm gets Firestar's power set. - Instead of being bitten by a radioactive spider, Peter's in the room when the spider's radiated, transforming him into the Hulk. - Bruce Banner, now without the strain of turning into a monster, goes evil and becomes Dr. Doom with his brilliant mind left unchecked. - Jean Grey is chosen as the herald of Galactus just as the Pheonix starts to emerge.
The ideas are endless.

I like to see a continuation of Superior Spider-Man with a twist: Otto is still in Peter's body and fights Green Goblin, until Osborn brings in the Sinister Six and tells them about Otto, and they betray him after what he done to them. Otto defeats the villains, and the other Heroes learn about what just happen and strip him off the Avengers after what he did.
Peter in his ghost form is still there, as he still trains Otto to use Great Power and Great Responsibility to help rebuild the image of Spider-Man.
As for Black Cat...She goes mentally insane in prison and starts killing as she plans on killing everyone who betrayed her and still has plans to end Spider-Man once and for all.
This is how you do a great run for Spider-Man; get rid of the clones and try for Peter to get Otto to reunite with MJ, as everyone hates that crap of the deal with The Devil. And maybe seeing Black Cat leading the Sinister Six as a threat could work.

That's what I like about this site: any suggestion and the next thing you know six people have rearranged the entire universe.
I change the line up of a team and feel like I'm getting too ambitious and the next guy to come along twists the entire space time continuum into a pretzel.
crazy as my ideas get, I feel like an amateur.

Does anyone follow the Twitter account @marvelplots? It sweets single summaries that are often hilarious and often amazing. It would be fun to do an Alternate Branch series based on some of them.
