Avengers #71-
Steve has always been able to spin a great story, all while keeping plates spinning. The hearing to determine the fate of the Vision was a great, twisty, turny ride. The final moments of it were great too, with the Scarlet Witch stepping up in a big way. The Thanos plot sounds pretty interesting, so I'm in for that. Plus, that epilogue! THAT EPILOGUE.
Great job there Steve.

First the bad news, due to a forty hour week and a two and a half hour commute every day, M2K reviews will be coming in three groups of 4 (one of them will cover the Amazing Spider Man stories).
The good news is that the first chunk of four is being reviewed tonight, so buckle up and get ready to see which stories are coming up in the rear view mirror. But will said stories cruise fast in top gear or will they have a blowout and end up skidding onto the hard shoulder, lets find out...
Black Panther #1 - With the recent hype, Black Panther #1 had a lot to live up to, fortunately Jake Hawkins proved that he was more then capable of rising to the challenge. Not only that but it appears as if he's sowing the seeds for an epic confrontation between T'Challa and Man Ape, although it looks like he'll have to go through Man Ape first. In addition for a first Marvel Mayhem title, it seems like the writer has picked up on the continuity of Wakanda very well. So until Zawadi comes home to Wakanda, I expect to see great things associated with this title.
Rating - 9.5/10 (Top Gear)
Force #1 - And so we come to the other #1 title in the release. And while I think it's a wee bit early to nominate things for the 2018 Tookies (2017 voting is now up) the battle between Force and Blacklash was outstanding and definitely a feather to C.W.Russette's cap. To add praise to this title, the high expectations I have had from the day it was revealed is totally worth it. While I can't really tell what's going to happen in #2, I suspect it'll be well crafted, that's how much I enjoyed this initial show of force from this title.
Rating - 9.75 (Top Gear)
Hulk #5 - I hadn't ready any of the prior Hulk titles produced by Jason McDonald, but I have to admit that #5 was easy enough to get into, and that wins points almost immediately, as does the explanation of the various Hulk's sharing Bruce Banner's mind. While the brutality of the Abomination was the focus point of the issue, it was the actions of the Leader that had the most weight as his plan marches on according to plan. Hopefully the wait won't be too long to see the next issue won't be too long.
Rating - 8.5/10 (Top Gear)
New Warriors #28 - It's the smack down of the century, at least in the Negative Zone, as Blastarr, Alpha, Cannonball and Annihilus square off. While the fight wasn't as extensive as say the one in Force, that isn't Tobias Christopher's area of expertise. Yes I'm repeating myself, so we'll jump forward to the two interesting future storylines set out for us. Who exactly are the X-Avengers and what have the Doom Twins been up to during the New Warrior's absence. Nothing good no doubt, unlike the continuing development of this story.
Rating - 9/10 (Top Gear)

Only read CODE #3 so far, but I must say I enjoyed it. It is a little surprising that Captain America could beat someone who has overwhelmed an entire team of X-Men, but considering this was a doppelgänger from an alternate reality I'll let it slide.

Force #1-
CW takes an interesting tack that works here. Instead of playing with the tropes of a usual first issue, he jumps into the story as if it's the first issue of a new story arc. Carl's situation and supporting cast is already in place. He jumps us into the middle of that with a very accessible story, while pulling back and showing us pieces of Carl Walker's new life. The fight between Force and Blacklash is a lot of fun too. It's a story that I'm interested in following long-term!

Amazing Spider-Man # 50: I like this issue, as I will not spoil it for readers who haven't read it yet. The back-ups are awesome. I have a suggestion for the use of a certain reporter from a certain animated sitcom; if you're going to use the Asian reporter from Family Guy in a cameo maybe you can use a Peter Griffin lookalike and nod the FG bit with Peter and Spidey.

Avengers #71- So I just finished reading this and man what a story. With all the trail and law jargon going I thought I was watching Law and Order for a second. Lol. I loved the way T’Challa was portrayed here fighting to see justice done for his people even though thanks though that last tie in story we now know what or should I say who was actually going full throttle after the Vision. When Wanda said “I want my husband back” I half expected her powers to just warp everything and bring him back to life right there. I’m not great with a number grading system so I’m just going niña say two thumbs up!! I look forward to seeing what happens next and how maybe this bit of play with Black Panther will spill over to the new Black Panther title.

I will admit that I thought totally forgot I put that in there as a joke. 😂 I love having back ground noise while I work and at that moment Family Guy was playing. But I am glad you liked the first of many issues to come. Next issue will see a little more on Miles and Gwen as well as Electro and Doctor Venom and then after that it will be more of a day in the life of Peter Parker as he balances his family, new job, being Spider-Man and a couple new responsibilities as well.

Well, given how dangerous and...public...Spider-Man's line of work is, there's no reason in the world that this Asian Reporter couldn't pop up once (or twice) more, is there?
Loved this issue, btw, along with the backup stories (heh, Angar the Screamer). Great to see Armada and Delilah again. Curious on what your plans for Osborn and Otto are, of course. Looking back at ASM #48 now (49 no longer exists) and I gotta say, it looks like a great deal of stuff happened in that six month hiatus! :-P
Nicely done, Tony & J.D. Keep on keepin' on with our friendly neighborhood super-dad!

But I can say one thing - MJ's return is a huge part of that story, and it starts in #49, if we can track it down.

Keep on keepin' on with our friendly neighborhood super-dad! I pulled Armada and Delilah out of the back closet because I was trying to find some people to use that don’t get used much. I’ve actually been making a list as I go of people that I would like to see used in future stories. Who knows you might see Stunner show up at some point. When it comes to Norman and Otto you might just call it a quest to see who Spideys greatest foe actually is once and for all. As for issue #49 we will be going back and writing this issue as well. It’s just gonna take a bit of time to gather and try and tie up several of the dangling plot lines. Also don’t worry about the six months later thing as we will be doing some flash back tales as well.

(Honestly, while I was writing the "Recap" and the "What Has Come Before" sections for this issue, I was legitimately concerned that readers may need a Doctorate to understand the madness I'd laid about in the last several issues. Honestly, I never realized how ludicrous an amount of plotline had transpired between Hulk #0, Volume 2 and now, mind you!!)
Fret not, my friends! This insane, convoluted, twisted story line is rapidly coming to its conclusion! M2K's Incredible HULK series is just getting started! Hopefully, it won't take another bloody damn year for you to see what the Leader's been up to this whole time. Or to see the fruition of the Professor/Fix-it/Savage's quest for Betty Banner! Or for you to see the newest iteration of our Gamma Green Giant! The Hulk #6 awaits you, True Believer!! Perhaps LESS than 365 days hence! Jason
