I'm thinking in 2019 I might try a third ongoing ( because I'm an idiot and sleep is for the weak) So, questions for the group: 1)Should I try a new title or bring back an old title from archive limbo? B) and if you said new: DC or marvel? extra credit: Feel free to add a suggested team/character etc if one springs to mind. I started scribbling an idea list, but you guys have some some brilliant suggestions in the past. I'm gonna go with Rose and Thorn. An old school concept with a lot of untapped potential. The GA plantmistress who was Alan Scott's "Catwoman"? or the silver age thief with multiple personality disorder? or perhaps a whole new iteration of the concept? GO WILD!!!

I appreciate the suggestions. While none of them are characters that would have occurred to me, you guys were in sync with me with going for solo characters.
Been doing a lot of team stuff these past couple years and feeling the urge to do a solo hero. Between your guys suggestions, and my own 'hey, maybe this guy' thoughts, I have a good size list I know need to whittle down.

Going off something I said in the recently resurrected Image2K thread one thing I like to do to get the creative juices flowing is take a property I actively dislike and try to make it "work". I do this somewhat often, it can be actually quite therapeutic depending on just how badly you hate the source material, lol.

It has been a fun mental exercise to take characters/titles that I felt were badly handled and see how I would fix them. Take a character that seems to deserve better then they got. There are no bad characters, just badly treated characters. I find nearly any Rob Liefield comic offers loads of opportunity.

Which is exactly how the subject came up in the Image thread lol think of all those poor creations of his: so badly in need of a personality to go with those larger than life anatomies!

I do feel a little guilty, as the Liefield joke is almost too easy. Except, he is one of prime examples of good idea, bad execution. Feel like I should pick on some other franchise for awhile. maybe, I'll move on to Ultraverse...

Good idea, bad execution...except for all his Maximum Press titles, which were LITERALLY stolen versions of other more successful properties with BLOOD in front of them. A Lobo. A Wolverine. Just really bad ideas with bad execution.

Some characters we hate, some are just so overhyped we get tired of them and then there are characters that we just don't get.
I don't find Captain Marvel that interesting. Decent design, I get marvel wants a Wonder Woman, the movie looks fun, but every time I try an issue, I just find my self going 'Meh', as the kids say. I don't hate her, but never find her that interesting.
I have this urge to try writing a Captain Marvel story just to see if I can figure out what I'm missing or maybe find a way to make her interesting to me.
Anybody else have a character they just don't get?

To be fair, Wonder Woman is a mystical character. It would make more sense to use Scarlet Witch as Marvel's Wonder Woman. Captain Marvel is a brick, much more like Superman. Also, she's got potential. Marvel just keeps missing the beat with her. Hopefully the movie and Brie Larson can bring some life to her.

I'm currently working on the pitch for Elementals v2 and also a Justice League adjacent series which is something I am quite excited about and should be something familiar, and different for people who've read some stuff by me before. Hint: It is Nature Based.

It isn't Manitou Raven. That was more a jokey reference to Travis saying about the Sper Friends Elemental Characters.
Although, I do like the character a lot!

the idea that is currently niggling at my brain: Slightly disappointed that none of the Joe Hill comics are set in the DCU.
Could his titles fit? What DC characters etc would fit? Sea Dogs and Dollhouse are pretty easy, the rest get trickier...
